Bashkortostan in the Turkvision Song Contest

Bashkortostan participated in the Turkvision Song Contest 2014 in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia. The Bashkir entry was selected through a national final organised by Bashkir broadcaster Kuray Television (KTV). Zaman won the national final and went on to represent Bashkortostan in the contest, qualifying from the semi-final and finishing in third place in the grand final with the song "Kubair".

Background

Prior to the 2014 contest, Bashkortostan had participated once, in the inaugural 2013 contest. [1] Diana Ishniyazova represented Bashkortostan with the song "Kuray Şarkısı", but failed to qualify for the final.

Before Turkvision

National final

On 20 July 2014 it was announced that Bashkortostan would make their second appearance at the Turkvision Song Contest 2014 to be held in Kazan, Tatarstan in November 2014. [2] On 9 October 2014 the Bashkir broadcaster made a call for submissions for the contest. [3] A total of 10 submissions were received by the broadcaster for the contest, and 9 entries were selected to participate in the final on 30 October 2014. [4] The final was won by Zaman with their song "Kubair". [5]

Zaman

Zaman is a Russian–Bashkortostani band. The band was formed in December 2013, consisting of eight members, who are graduates of the universities of Moscow and Bashkortostan, led by soloist Al'fiya Nigmatullina. [5]

Kubair

"Kubair" (Bashkir : Кубаир) is a song performed by Russian-Bashkortostani band Zaman, and written by Aydar Khamzin and Venera Nigmatullina. [5] The song represented Bashkortostan in the Turkvision Song Contest 2014, placing 3rd with 199 points.

Semi-final

Bashkortostan performed 17th in the semi-final on 19 November 2014, [7] placing fourth in a field of 25 countries with 193 points, thus qualifying for the final. [8]

Final

Bashkortostan performed sixth in the final on 21 November 2014, placing third in a field of 15 countries with 199 points.[ citation needed ]

Voting

The results were determined solely by jury voting. Each country was represented by one juror who gave each song, with the exception of their own country's song, between 1 and 10 points. [9] The Bashkortostani juror was Aigul Akhmadeeva. [10]

Altai Republic, Belarus, Kemerovo, Kosovo, and Northern Cyprus withdrew from the contest. The semi final took place on 19 November 2014 and the final took place on 21 November 2014. The presenters of the contest were Artem Shalimov, Narmin Agaeva, and Ranil Nuriov.

Xhoi Bejko was the first representative for Albania at the Turkvision Song Contest 2014 with the song "Hava ve Ates", which failed to qualify from the semi-finals, finishing in nineteenth place and achieving 154 points. There was no semi-final this year, whilst the final took place on 19 December 2015.

Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2015 was the first edition of the Bala Turkvision Song Contest. It was initially scheduled to take place in Mary, Turkmenistan, however, it was moved to Istanbul, Turkey. The contest is the junior equivalent of the Turkvision Song Contest; similar to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest being the younger equivalent of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Bashkortostan participated in the Turkvision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Kuray Şarkısı", performed by Diana Ishniyazova. The Bashkir entry for the 2013 contest in Eskişehir, Turkey was selected through a national final organised by Bashkir broadcaster Kuray Television (KTV). The national final consisted of seventeen competing acts participating in a televised production where the winner was be determined by 100% votes of jury members made up of music professionals. Ishniyazova failed to qualify from the semi-finals of the contest.

Azerbaijan participated in the Turkvision Song Contest 2014 which took place in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia. Azad Azerbaijan TV (ATV) was responsible for organising their entry for the contest. Elvin Ordubadli won the national final, Azərbaycan`ın Sesi, on 21 September with the song "Divlərin yalnızlığı", earning the right to represent Azerbaijan in the contest. Azerbaijan placed 9th with 177 points.

Kazakhstan participated in and won the Turkvision Song Contest 2014 in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia. "Izin kórem", performed by Zhanar Dugalova, was selected as the Kazakhstani entry for the contest in a national final.

Tatarstan hosted and participated in the Turkvision Song Contest 2014 in Kazan. The song "Atlar çaba", performed by Aydar Suleymanov, was selected as the Tatarstani entry for the contest in a national final.

Kyrgyzstan participated in the Turkvision Song Contest 2014 in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia. The song "Seze bil" performed by Non-Stop was selected as the Kyrgyzstani entry for the contest in a national final.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Turkvision Song Contest 2020</span> 4th Turkvision Song Contest

The Turkvision Song Contest 2020 was the fourth edition of the Turkvision Song Contest. It took place in Istanbul, Turkey, with performances filmed remotely, and organised by Turkish Music Box Television.

Turkey participated in the Turkvision Song Contest 2014 in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia. Turkish broadcaster TRT Avaz was responsible for the country's participation in the contest. The song "Hoppa", performed by Funda Kılıç, was internally selected as the Turkish entry for the contest. The song qualified from the semi-final and placed 15th (last) in the final.
