Moldova has never participated in the Turkvision Song Contest. Moldova was expected to participate in the 2016 contest in Istanbul, Turkey, however the 2016 contest was subsequently cancelled due to the December 2016 Istanbul bombings. Moldova had selected the song "Yallah Yallah!", performed by Pelageya Stefoglo (then known as Polina Stefoglo), as their debut entry. [2] Moldova are expected to participate in the upcoming 2020 contest, held online in Istanbul. Pelageya Stefoglo was again internally selected as the Moldovan artist. [3]

The national broadcaster responsible for the selection process of Moldova's participants is unknown, save for the initials "KTRK".

History

2016

On 25 November 2016, it was announced that Moldova would participate in the contest for the first time in 2016, and had internally selected Polina Stefoglo. Stefoglo had unsuccessfully competed to represent Găgăuzia in the contest before her selection as the Moldovan artist. [4] "Yallah Yallah!" was announced as the Moldovan entry for the contest on 5 December 2016. [2] However, the contest was later cancelled due to the December 2016 Istanbul bombings.[ citation needed ]

2020

Moldova's participation in the 2020 contest, with Pelageya Stefoglo as their artist, was confirmed in November 2020. [3]

The participation of the Altai Republic in the Turkvision Song Contest first began at the inaugural Turkvision Song Contest, in Eskişehir, Turkey, in 2013. STRC Altai Mountains, a network owned by All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK), have been responsible for the selection process of their participants, since their debut in 2013. Artur Marlujokov was the first representative for the Altai Republic at the Turkvision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Altayym Menin", which qualified from the semifinals, and finished in fifth place, achieving one-hundred and eighty-nine points in the grand final.

The participation of Azerbaijan in the Turkvision Song Contest first began in Eskişehir, Turkey, at the inaugural edition of the Turkvision Song Contest in 2013. Azad Azerbaijan TV (ATV) have been responsible for the selection process of their participants, since their debut in 2013. Farid Hasanov was the first representative for Azerbaijan at the Turkvision Song Contest 2014 with the song "Yaşa", which qualified from the semifinals and won the contest, achieving two-hundred and ten points in the grand final. Azerbaijan continued to participate in the contest, and sent Elvin Ordubadli as their representative in the Turkvision Song Contest 2014, with the song "Divlərin yalnızlığı", which finished in ninth place, achieving 177 points in the grand final.

Bashkortostan has participated in the Turkvision Song Contest twice since its debut in 2013. The Bashkir broadcaster, Kuray Television (KTV),was the organiser of the Bashkir entry from 2013 to 2014, in 2015 Tugan Tel TV replaced Kuray Television. In 2013, Bashkortostan's first entry at Turkvision, Diana Ishniyazova, failed to qualify to the grand final.

Belarus has participated in the Turkvision Song Contest 3 times since its debut in 2013. Details regarding the Belarusian broadcaster which organises Belarus' entry are unknown. In 2013, Belarus' first entry at Turkvision, Gunesh Abasova, qualified from the semi-final, and placed 2nd in the final achieving 205 points.

The Moldovan broadcaster, Gagauz Radio Television (GRT), has been the organiser of the Gagauz entry since its debut in the contest. In 2013, Gagauzia's first entry at Turkvision, Ludmila Turkan, failed to qualify for the grand final.

Albania has participated in the Turkvision Song Contest 3 times since their debut in the 2014 contest in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia. Radio Televizioni Shqiptar (RTSH) have been responsible for the selection process of their participants since their debut in 2014. Xhoi Bejko was the first representative for Albania at the Turkvision Song Contest 2014 with the song "Hava ve Ates", which failed to qualify from the semi-finals, finishing in nineteenth place and achieving 154 points. Albania continued to participate in the contest, and sent Xhoi Bejko and Visar Rexhepi as their representatives in the Turkvision Song Contest 2015, with the song "Adi Hasret", which finished in eighth place, receiving the same total of points as in their previous participation.

The debut of Russia in the Turkvision Song Contest was originally announced as taking place at the Turkvision Song Contest 2013. However, upon the publication of the finalised participation list, Russia no longer appeared as taking part. Although, several Federal subjects of Russia, have competed in the Turkvision Song Contest ever since its inaugural contest in 2013.

The Turkvision Song Contest 2015 was the third edition of the Turkvision Song Contest, which took place in Istanbul, Turkey; and organised by Turkish Music Box Television (TMB). A total of twenty-one Turkic regions, which have either a large Turkic population or a widely spoken Turkic language, participated in the contest, as well as one Turkic ethnic groups who do not have a defined region. There was no semi-final this year, whilst the final took place on 19 December 2015.

Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2015 was the first edition of the Bala Turkvision Song Contest. It was initially scheduled to take place in Mary, Turkmenistan, however, it was moved to Istanbul, Turkey. The contest is the junior equivalent of the Turkvision Song Contest; similar to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest being the younger equivalent of the Eurovision Song Contest.

<i>Bala Turkvision Song Contest</i> Former annual song contest

Bala Turkvision Song Contest, also known as Bala Türkvizyon Song Contest in English, was intended to be an annual song contest, inspired by the format of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The contest was open to countries and regions which are Turkic-speaking and of Turkic ethnicity, and songs had to be in the respective country's national language. The first and only contest was held in Turkey in 2015, with both the 2016 and 2017 contests subsequently canceled.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Poland in the Turkvision Song Contest</span>

The participation of Poland in the Turkvision Song Contest was expected to begin in Istanbul, Turkey, at the Turkvision Song Contest 2016. The national broadcaster responsible for the selection process of Poland's participants has yet to be known. Poland had selected Olga Shimanskaya with her song "Masal gibi bu dünya", as their debut entry. However, the 2016 contest was subsequently cancelled due to the December 2016 Istanbul bombings, leading Poland to debut at the 2020 contest four years later,

Azerbaijan participated in the Turkvision Song Contest 2015 which took place in Istanbul, Turkey. Azad Azerbaijan TV (ATV) was responsible for organising their entry for the contest. Mehman Tağıyev won the national final, Azerbaycan`ın Sesi, on 29 September, earning the right to represent Azerbaijan in the contest. On 8 October, his song, "Istanbul" was internally selected. Azerbaijan placed 7th with 155 points.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Kazakhstan in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest</span>

Kazakhstan participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest every year from their debut in 2018 to 2022. Khabar Agency (KA), an associate member organisation of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), is responsible for the country's participation in the contest. The 2018 contest marked the first time that Kazakhstan has participated in any Eurovision event.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Turkvision Song Contest 2020</span> 4th Turkvision Song Contest

The Turkvision Song Contest 2020 was the fourth edition of the Turkvision Song Contest. It took place in Istanbul, Turkey, with performances filmed remotely, and organised by Turkish Music Box Television.

Romania participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy, with "Llámame" performed by WRS. The Romanian broadcaster, Televiziunea Română (TVR), organised the national final Selecția Națională 2022 in order to select the Romanian entry for the 2022 contest. The national final consisted of three shows, including two semi-finals and a final. A total of 46 entries were selected and 10 qualifiers ultimately competed in the final on 5 March 2022, where the winner scoring top marks from both a jury panel and a public televote was selected.

Moldova participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy, with the song "Trenulețul" performed by the band Zdob și Zdub and the Advahov Brothers. The Moldovan broadcaster TeleRadio-Moldova (TRM) selected the Moldovan entry for the 2022 contest by organising a live audition on 29 January 2022, where "Trenulețul" was selected by an expert jury.
