Local elections was held in the Province of Batangas on May 13, 2013 as part of the 2013 general election. Voters will select candidates for all local positions: a town mayor, vice mayor and town councilors, as well as members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the vice-governor, governor and representatives for the four districts of Batangas.

Batangas Province in Calabarzon, Philippines

Batangas, officially known as the Province of Batangas is a province in the Philippines located in the Calabarzon region in Luzon. Its capital is the city of Batangas and is bordered by the provinces of Cavite and Laguna to the north and Quezon to the east. Across the Verde Island Passages to the south is the island of Mindoro and to the west lies the South China Sea. Poetically, Batangas is often referred to by its ancient name Kumintáng.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan, commonly known as the Provincial Board, is the Filipino language name given to the legislatures in Philippine provinces. They are the legislative branch of the province and their powers and responsibilities are defined by the Local Government Code of 1991. Along with the provincial governor, the executive branch of the province, they form the province's government.

Congressional elections

Each of Batangas's four legislative districts will elect each representative to the House of Representatives.

The Legislative Districts of Batangas are the representations of the province of Batangas in the various national legislatures of the Philippines. The province is currently represented in the lower house of the Congress of the Philippines through its first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth districts.

The House of Representatives of the Philippines, is the lower house of the Congress of the Philippines. It is often commonly referred to as Congress and informally referred to as Camara or Kamara. Members of the House are officially styled as representative (Kinatawan) and sometimes informally called Congressmen/Congresswomen and are elected to a three-year term. They can be re-elected, but cannot serve more than three consecutive terms. Around eighty percent of congressmen are district representatives, representing a particular geographical area. There are 234 legislative districts in the country, each composed of about 250,000 people. There are also party-list representatives elected through the party-list system who constitute not more than twenty percent of the total number of representatives.

1st District

Tomas Apacible is the incumbent. He will be facing off against Reynaldo Albajera, former representative Eileen Ermita-Buhain and Dr. Luisito L. Ruiz.

Eileen Ermita-Buhain is a Filipino politician. A member of the Lakas-CMD Party, she has been elected to three terms as a Member of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, representing the 1st District of Batangas. She first won election to Congress in 2001, and was re-elected in 2004 and 2007.

The Liberals nominated actor and incumbent board member Christopher de Leon, with the United Nationalist Alliance nominating former Board Member Godofredo Berberabe. Berberabe died on March 4, 2013.The Running of Godofredo Berberabe is continued by his brother, Danilo Berberabe.

Hermilando Mandanas Filipino politician

Hermilando "Dodo" Ingco Mandanas is a Filipino politician. A former three-term Governor of Batangas since 1995 to 2004 and former three-term Member of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, representing the 2nd District of Batangas.

Liberal Party (Philippines) liberal party in the Philippines

The Liberal Party of the Philippines or LP is a liberal political party in the Philippines, founded by then senators Senate President Manuel Roxas, Senate President Pro-Tempore Elpidio Quirino, and former 9th Senatorial District Senator José Avelino, on January 19, 1946 by a breakaway Liberal wing from the old Nacionalista Party. It was the ruling party from 2010 to 2016 after the election victory of Benigno Aquino III as the President of the Philippines. Today, the Liberals are the opposition and maintain at least six seats in the Senate, and at least 27 of seats in the House of Representatives. Around 50% of governors, 50% of vice governors, and 33% of board members are also Liberals.

Christopher "Boyet" Strauss de León is a Filipino film actor and politician. De Leon appeared on the gag show Going Bananas and has appeared in over 120 films since the early 1970s.
