Bobby Johnson (born c. 1973) is an American football coach who is the offensive line coach for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). Johnson played college football for the Miami Redhawks. Johnson has also previously served as an assistant coach for the New York Giants, Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts, Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Coaching career

Early career

Johnson began his coaching career at Akron as a graduate assistant in 1995. He was then promoted as the team’s defensive line coach in 1997. In 1999 he returned to his alma mater where he coached the tight ends until 2003. In 2004 he was moved over and became Miami of Ohio’s offensive line coach. In 2005 he went over to Indiana becoming the team’s offensive line coach. In 2010 he made the jump to the NFL as the assistant offensive line coach for the Buffalo Bills until after the 2011 season. In 2012 he worked as the Jaguars tight ends coach. In 2013 he coached the Lions tight ends coach [1] and in 2014 [2] he was moved to the assistant offensive line coach position. In 2015 he joined the Raiders as the team’s tight ends coach [3] [4] where he stayed until the end of the 2017 season. In January 2018, Johnson was the head coach of the West team in the 2018 East–West Shrine Game. Following that he was the assistant offensive line coach for the Colts in 2018. [5] Between 2019 [6] and 2021 he was the offensive line coach for the Buffalo Bills. [7]

New York Giants

In 2022 he followed Brian Daboll to New York and became the Giants offensive line coach. [8] He was fired after the 2023 season, where the Giants offensive line gave up a league leading 85 sacks, the second most in NFL history. [9]

Washington Commanders

On February 15, 2024, Johnson was hired by the Washington Commanders as their offensive line coach under head coach Dan Quinn. [10]

Anthony Ray Lynn is an American football coach and former running back who is the run game coordinator and running backs coach for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). He previously played in the NFL for six seasons, primarily with the Denver Broncos. Used in a reserve role, Lynn was a member of the Broncos teams that won Super Bowl XXXII and XXXIII. He retired as a player in 2000 and entered coaching, later serving as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers from 2017 to 2020.

A coaching tree is similar to a family tree except it shows the relationships of coaches instead of family members. There are several ways to define a relationship between two coaches. The most common way to make the distinction is if a coach worked as an assistant on a particular head coach's staff for at least a season then that coach can be counted as being a branch on the head coach's coaching tree. Coaching trees can also show philosophical influence from one head coach to an assistant.

Benjamin Lee McAdoo is an American football coach, currently serving as a senior offensive assistant of the New England Patriots in the National Football League (NFL). McAdoo was most notably the head coach of the New York Giants from 2016 to 2017, after serving as their offensive coordinator the previous two years under former head coach Tom Coughlin. He was fired from that position on December 4, 2017 following a 2–10 start, along with benching longtime starting quarterback Eli Manning. At the time of his termination, his 28 regular season games were the fewest by a Giants coach since 1930. Prior to working for the Patriots, McAdoo had also served as an assistant coach for several college football teams, as well as for the New Orleans Saints, the San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Carolina Panthers.

Sanjay Lal is an American football coach who is the wide receivers coach for the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as an assistant coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills, New York Jets, Oakland Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, and Seattle Seahawks.

The 2014 Detroit Lions season was the franchise's 85th season in the National Football League (NFL), their 81st as the Detroit Lions and the first under a new coaching staff led by head coach Jim Caldwell. The Lions suffered the passing of long-time owner William Clay Ford, Sr., who died on March 9, 2014, at the age of 88, and wore patches with his initials on their jerseys in his honor. After the Philadelphia Eagles lost to the Washington Redskins in Week 16, the Lions clinched a playoff berth for the first time since 2011. They lost to the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Game 24–20, ending their season. It was their eighth straight playoff loss, tying the Kansas City Chiefs for the longest postseason losing streak in NFL history.

Jim O'Neil is an American football coach who currently is the defensive assistant for the Detroit Lions. Previously he was the defensive coordinator at Northwestern University and as assistant coach in the NFL for the New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, the San Francisco 49ers and Las Vegas Raiders. He was a coach for numerous college football teams before that.

He played college football for the University of Tennessee, and started out coaching for his alma mater before becoming an NFL coach.

The 2022 NFL draft was the 87th edition of the National Football League's annual draft and was held from April 28–30, 2022, at the Caesars Forum on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. His NFL coaching career began as an assistant with the Miami Dolphins in 2012, coaching quarterbacks, tight ends, and wide receivers. Johnson later joined the Lions in 2019, rising to offensive coordinator in 2022 and leading the team to two top-five offenses. He was previously a walk-on quarterback at North Carolina in the mid-2000s.
