Joseph J. Gilbert (born January 22, 1965) is an American football coach who is the offensive line coach for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL).
Gilbert was a standout athlete at Horseheads High School [2] where he earned All-Twin-Tier honors [3] before attending Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. [4] Gilbert was a three-time all-conference selection, and four-year starter on the offensive line. During senior season, became the first Hamilton player to earn First Team All-America honors. [5]
Gilbert began his career in coaching at the University at Albany. He worked l as a graduate assistant in 1987 and 1988 under Bob Ford. [6]
After Albany, Gilbert became the assistant offensive line and recruiting coordinator at the University of Pennsylvania for 1989 and 1990 under head coach Gary Steele.
In 1991, Barry Gallup and the Huskies hired Gilbert as their offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. He remained with the team for three seasons.
After coaching at Northeastern, Gilbert was hired by Maine as the team's offensive line coach in 1994. After the 1995 season, he was given the additional title of offensive coordinator, in addition to his duties with the offensive line.
In 2000, Gilbert had his first opportunity as a head coach at Mansfield. He only remained with the team for one season.
In 2001, Gilbert returned to coaching the offensive line this time at Toledo under coach Tom Amstutz. Gilbert left the team after the 2003 season.
On February 6,2004 following his three-year run in Toledo, [7] went to UCF. There he went on to coach the offensive line also for three years.
In 2007, Gilbert returned to Toledo as the team's tight ends coach. However he only remained there for a single season.
Gilbert spent the 2008 season at the University of Houston, where he led an offensive line that helped the team rank second in the nation in passing and total offense and 10th in scoring offense.
In 2009, Gilbert was hired by Ron Zook as the Illini's offensive line coach. [8] [9] In 2010, he added the title of assistant head coach.
He had a six-year stint with the Indianapolis Colts. First named an assistant offensive line coach in 2012, [4] he held the title of offensive line coach [10] from 2013 [11] to 2015, and reverted to the assistant line coach in 2016 [12] and 2017.
Gilbert coached the offensive line at the University of Arizona [13] in 2018, [14] while also having the title of run game coordinator. [15]
In 2019 Gilbert returned to the NFL becoming the Bucs offensive line coach. [5] Gilbert earned his first Super Bowl title when the Buccaneers won Super Bowl LV. [16]
In 2024, he followed Dave Canales to the Carolina Panthers and became the team’s offensive line coach. [17]
Joe and his wife, Cheryl, have one daughter, Madison, and three sons, Nicholas, Joseph and Timothy. [14]
Jon David Gruden is an American professional football coach who is an advisor for the Milano Seamen of the European League of Football. He held his first head coaching position with the Raiders franchise during their Oakland tenure from 1998 to 2001, where he won two consecutive division titles and made an AFC Championship Game appearance. Gruden was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002, which he led to their first Super Bowl title in Super Bowl XXXVII the same season. At age 39, he was the then-youngest head coach to win the Super Bowl. He served as Tampa Bay's head coach through 2008, setting the franchise record for wins, but made only two further playoff runs. After his firing from the Buccaneers, Gruden was featured as an analyst for ESPN's Monday Night Football broadcasts from the 2009 to the 2017 seasons.
Frank Michael Reich is an American former professional football player and coach in the National Football League (NFL). He played 14 seasons as a quarterback in the NFL. He became a coach afterwards, including head coaching stints with the Indianapolis Colts and Carolina Panthers.
Russell Scott Grimm is an American former professional football player who was a guard for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League (NFL). He has also served as an assistant coach for the Redskins, Pittsburgh Steelers, Arizona Cardinals, and Tennessee Titans. As a professional, Grimm had multiple selections to both the All-Pro and Pro Bowl teams, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010. Grimm played 11 seasons for the Redskins and was a first-team selection to the NFL 1980s All-Decade Team.

Bruce Charles Arians is an American football executive and former coach in the National Football League (NFL). Since 2022, he has been a senior football consultant for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Arians was previously the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals from 2013 to 2017 and the Buccaneers from 2019 to 2021. He was also the interim head coach of the Indianapolis Colts during the 2012 season. Arians is known for his slogan "No risk-it, no biscuit," which encourages aggressive playcalling.
Joseph Anthony Philbin is an American offensive line coach for the Las Vegas Raiders. He served as the offensive line coach for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). He was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins, a position he held from 2012 to 2015. Philbin was also the offensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers from 2007 to 2011, helping them win Super Bowl XLV over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Philbin served as interim head coach of the Packers for the final four games of the 2018 season after serving as the offensive coordinator for the first part of the season.
Todd Robert Bowles is an American professional football coach and former player who is the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL). He previously was the head coach of the New York Jets from 2015 to 2018. Bowles has also been the defensive coordinator of the Arizona Cardinals and Buccaneers and the secondary coach for the Jets, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, and Philadelphia Eagles. He played eight seasons in the NFL as a safety, primarily with the Washington Redskins, and was a member of the team that won Super Bowl XXII.
Brian Michael Daboll is a Canadian-American professional football coach who is the head coach of the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Buffalo Bills. Daboll has also served in various capacities as an assistant coach for the New England Patriots from 2000 to 2006 and again from 2013 to 2016.
Allan Quay Shipley is an American former football center who played twelve seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Penn State Nittany Lions and was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL draft. Shipley was also a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens, Arizona Cardinals, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was previously the head coach and general manager of the DC Defenders of the XFL, and the quarterbacks coach for the Los Angeles Chargers, and was most recently the offensive coordinator for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL).
Jason Licht is an American football executive who is the general manager of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL), a position he has held since 2014. Before joining the Bucs in 2014, Licht worked for the NFL's Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals. In his 26-year executive career, Licht has appeared in 5 Super Bowls, winning 2 of them with the Patriots in 2002 and Buccaneers in 2021, both led by Tom Brady. His other appearances were in 2005 with the Eagles, 2009 with the Cardinals, and 2012 with the Patriots.
Kyle DeVan is an American football coach and former guard. He is currently the offensive line coach at his alma mater, Oregon State University. He was previously an assistant coach for the New Orleans Saints. During his playing career, he was signed by the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2008.
