The Bollywood Movie Awards was an annual film award ceremony held between 1999 and 2007 in Long Island, New York, United States, celebrating films and actors from the Bollywood film industry based in Mumbai, India.
The predecessor to the award ceremony was introduced in 1992 by Kamal Dandona, the head of The Bollywood Group and was originally titled, "Nataraj Awards". It was renamed and relaunched as Bollywood Movie Awards in 1999. [1] Michael Jackson won a Humanitarian Award in 1999, Richard Gere a Man of Conscience award, and Sharon Stone an award connected to her work with AIDS. [1] During the 2007 ceremonies, Danny Glover received an award for Outstanding Contribution to Global Entertainment and Mira Nair for Pride of India Award. [2] Phylicia Rashad and Donald Trump also made appearances. [1] These awards are given to those well deserving due to their excellent skills of acting and those who know the craft. They are applauded-on several occasions including those of IIFA and Filmfare awards. [3]
Fans of Bollywood films nominated their favourite stars for each respective award category on the Bollywood Group's official website. They appreciate the work of Indian film stars and on annual polls for awards they vote for their favourite candidates. the chosen candidate then picks up the award at the ceremony.

Her production company, Mirabai Films, specializes in films for international audiences on Indian society, whether in the economic, social or cultural spheres. Among her best known films are Mississippi Masala, The Namesake, the Golden Lion–winning Monsoon Wedding, and Salaam Bombay!, which received nominations for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and the BAFTA Award for Best Film Not in the English Language.

Monsoon Wedding is a 2001 comedy-drama film directed by Mira Nair, written by Sabrina Dhawan, and starring Naseeruddin Shah, Lillete Dubey, Shefali Shah and Vasundhara Das. The Reluctant Fundamentalist is a 2012 political thriller drama film directed by Mira Nair and starring Riz Ahmed, Kate Hudson, and Liev Schreiber. It is based on the 2007 novel of the same name by Mohsin Hamid. The film is a post-9/11 story about the impact of the terrorist attacks on one Pakistani man and his treatment by Americans in reaction to them.
Indian actress Tabu appears primarily in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil films. Her first credited role came as a teenager in Dev Anand's Hum Naujawan (1985), and her first major role was in the Telugu film Coolie No. 1 (1991). In 1994, Tabu received the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for the Hindi action drama Vijaypath, which marked her first of many collaborations with co-star Ajay Devgn.
