Canonsburg is a borough in Washington County, Pennsylvania, 18 miles (29 km) southwest of Pittsburgh. Canonsburg was laid out by Colonel John Canon in 1789 and incorporated in 1802. The population was 8,992 at the 2010 census.

It has both architectural and historic importance, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1983. It is open weekly between April and November, or by appointment.

The Gettysburg Armory is a former National Guard armory located at Gettysburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. The 61x96 ft Art Deco facility was constructed as a $43,331 Works Projects Administration project for the local National Guard unit. The two-story building housed a garage and repair shop for military vehicles, a classroom, administrative space, and a drill hall. From the beginning, the Armory was used not only by the National Guard, but also by the local community, for sporting events and community meetings. In 1944, the Gettysburg Armory was used as a temporary German Prisoner of War camp while the official camp was being constructed on the Gettysburg Battlefield. Later the building was designated as a public fallout shelter by the National Fallout Shelter Survey.
Waynesboro Armory is a historic National Guard armory located at Waynesboro, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1938, and is a one-story, "I"-plan brick building in the Moderne style. It consists of three sections: administration building, drill hall, and stable. Its construction was funded in part by the Public Works Administration.
East Stroudsburg Armory, also known as the Captain George M. Kemp Memorial Armory, is a historic National Guard armory located at East Stroudsburg, Monroe County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1928, and is a "T"-plan building consisting of a two-story administration building and attached one-story drill hall executed in the Tudor Revival style. It is constructed of brick and sits on a concrete foundation. It measures approximately 56 feet by 128 feet. Since class warfare was no longer a concern, the function of the armory took a new turn, and armories were often used as community centers and for public gatherings. No longer were these facilities built to look intimidating; they were now designed in styles that were not visually associated with defense. Armories designed in the Art Deco and Moderne styles were now in vogue, mostly funded by the WPA to create jobs for both skilled and unskilled laborers during the Depression. Joseph Franklin Kuntz was an American architect based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He designed at least 18 armories in Western Pennsylvania, with the W.G. Wilkins Company, following the 1905 creation of a state armory board.
The Butler Armory is a historic National Guard armory located on Washington Street in Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania. It was designed by architect Joseph F. Kuntz with W.G. Wilkins, Co. and built in 1922 and expanded in 1930. It is a "T"-plan building that consists of a one-story, brick drill hall fronted by a two-story, brick administration section. The front section is in the Art Deco style. The building sits on a stone foundation; the administration section has a flat roof and the drill hall has a gambrel roof.
