Geography

Carl is located 12 mi (19 km) south of Austin and 2 mi (3.2 km) north of Creedmoor in southern Travis County. [2]

Education

Carl had its own school in the early 1890s and the 1940s. [2] Today the community is served by the Del Valle Independent School District. Schools that serve the community are Creedmoor Elementary School, John P. Ojeda Junior High School, and Del Valle High School.

Travis County has had two locations named Montopolis. The first was during the Republic of Texas period north of the Colorado River. Santiago del Valle was a Mexican hacendado and government official for Coahuila y Tejas during the Texas Revolution. Del Valle obtained a land grant from the Mexican government, which led to the founding of Galveston, Texas and several towns in Travis County, including Del Valle, which is named in his honor.
