Casper Mikael Terho (born 24 June 2003) is a Finnish professional football player who plays for Belgian Pro League club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise and the Finland national team.
Terho grew up in Vuosaari, East Helsinki, [1] and played football in the youth teams of Helsinki-based clubs Malmin Palloseura (MPS), [2] Puotinkylän Valtti, PK-35 and FC Kontu. [3] In 2018, when playing in a youth team of Kontu, he was spotted by two HJK academy coaches at the time, Miika Takkula and Jyrki Ahola, and later in the same year, he joined the youth academy of HJK Helsinki. [4]
Casper Terho made his professional debut for Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi on the 26 August 2020, coming on as a substitute in the Veikkausliiga 2-0 home win against Seinäjoen Jalkapallokerho. [5] [6] Along with other youngsters such as Kai Meriluoto, he played a few other games by the end of season, where his team ended up winning the 2020 championship. [7] [8] He has also played for HJK reserve team Klubi 04 in third-tier Kakkonen and second-tier Ykkönen. [9]
Being already viewed as one of the brightest hopes from the Finnish champions academy, he scored his first goal in his 2021 season debuts, during the 4–2 home championship win against FC Honka on the 24 April 2021. [8] By the end of May, he became a regular starter with HJK, scoring another goal against Ilves, while still aged only 17. [10] [11]
On 29 September 2022, Belgian side Union SG announced that they had reached an agreement with HJK about his transfer. He joined the Belgian side on 1 January 2023 on a deal until 30 June 2026, for an undisclosed fee, [12] with HJK securing a sell-on clause. [13] [4] He officially made his debut for the club on 8 January against Anderlecht, as a 77th minute substitute. [14] Terho scored his first goal for the club on 20 April 2023, in the first leg of the 2022–23 UEFA Europa League quarter finals against Bayer Leverkusen. Despite his goal, his team lost the game 4–1 (5–2 on aggregate), and were eventually knocked out of the competition. [15] On 23 April 2023, Terho scored his first goals in the Jupiler Pro League, a brace in a 4–2 away win against Kortrijk. [16] In 2024, Terho and Union SG won the Belgian Cup and the Belgian Super Cup.
Terho is a youth international for Finland, taking part in the 2020 Euro under-17 qualifications, where Finland topped their pool with Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Moldova, although the final stage of the tournament was eventually canceled due to the covid pandemic. [17]
Terho played regularly for the Finnish under-17, under-19 and under-21 national teams, before making his senior debut for Finland on 4 June 2024, in a 4–2 friendly defeat against Portugal. [18]
In November 2024, Terho scored two goals for Finland U21 in the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification play-offs matches against Norway, helping Finland to win the pair 6–3 on aggregate and to qualify for the final tournament, for the second time in the nation's history. [19]

Royale Union Saint-Gilloise
Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi, commonly known as HJK Helsinki, or simply as HJK, is a Finnish football club based in Helsinki. The club competes in Veikkausliiga, the top division of the Finnish football league system. Founded in 1907, the club has spent most of its history in the top tier of Finnish football. The club's home ground is the 10,770-seat Bolt Arena, where they have played their home games since 2000.
Tim Sparv is a Finnish former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. He is currently working as an assistant coach of the Sparta Prague in Czech First League, and an assistant coach of the Finland national football team. Sparv was born in Oravais, and started his football career in Norrvalla FF youth team before moving to Southampton's junior organisation. He began his senior club career playing for Halmstad, before signing with Groningen in 2010.
Përparim Hetemaj is a Finnish football coach and a former professional footballer who last played as a midfielder for Veikkausliiga club HJK. Born in Kosovo, Hetemaj arrived in Finland when he was six years old and played for HJK's youth teams; signing a professional contract in 2004 at age 17. He joined Greek side AEK Athens in 2006, and moved to Twente in 2009. Subsequently, in 2010, he was signed by Brescia and was transferred to Chievo in 2011. Hetemaj played a total of 300 matches in the Serie A, before returning to Finland in 2022 after a season with Reggina in the Serie B.

After winning his first trophy, the Veikkausliiga, during his first season on league level, he helped HJK win five successive Veikkausliiga titles, two Cups and a League Cup. After five full seasons in HJK he was sold to Belgian First Division A side Waasland-Beveren.
Joel Julius Ilmari Pohjanpalo is a Finnish professional footballer who plays as a forward for Serie A club Venezia and the Finland national team. He began his career with HJK, making his Veikkausliiga debut on 26 October 2011 at the age of 17, and moved out to Germany at age 19 in 2013.
