Chaeturichthys is a genus of gobies native to the western Pacific Ocean.
There are currently two recognized species in this genus: [1] [2]
Gobiodon is a genus of gobies also known as coral gobies or "clown gobies". Generally, coral gobies, unlike the rest of the family Gobiidae, are not burrowers, but instead prefer to inhabit the branches of certain Acropora or similar hard corals.
Odontamblyopus is a genus of gobies native to mud bottomed coastal and estuarine habitats from Pakistan eastward to Japan.
Odontamblyopus rebecca is a species of eel goby native to marine and brackish waters of Vietnam. This species can reach a length of 14.1 centimetres (5.6 in) SL. This species is mostly known from several specimens collected from a fish market in Haiphong, Vietnam.
Rhinogobius is a genus of primarily freshwater gobies in the family Oxudercidae, native to tropical and temperate parts of eastern Asia. Most are small, streamlined in shape, and often sexually dimorphic. Few are of commercial importance, but R. duospilus is fairly widely traded as an aquarium fish.
Vanderhorstia is a genus of gobies native to the Indian and Pacific oceans. The name of this genus honours the Dutch biologist Cornelius van der Horst (1889-1951) of the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, who was well known for his interest in marine biology.
Tomiyamichthys is a genus of gobies found from the Red Sea through the Indian Ocean to the western Pacific Ocean.
Acanthogobius is a genus of gobies native to marine, fresh and brackish waters of eastern Asia.
The Gobionellinae are a subfamily of fish which was formerly classified in the family Gobiidae, the gobies, but the 5th Edition of Fishes of the World classifies the subfamily as part of the family Oxudercidae. Members of Gobionellinae mostly inhabit estuarine and freshwater habitats; the main exception is the genus Gnatholepis, which live with corals in marine environments. The subfamily is distributed in tropical and temperate regions around the world with the exception of the northeastern Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Ponto-Caspian region. It includes around 370 species and 55 genera: Wikipedia articles about genera list about 389 species.
Metzia is a genus of cyprinid fish that is found in eastern Asia. The genus is named in honor of the American ichthyologist Charles William Metz of Stanford University.
Ancistrogobius is a genus of gobies native to the western Pacific Ocean. The first fossil record of this genus is Ancistrogobius indicus from the Burdigalian of southwestern India.
Asterropteryx is a genus of fish in the family Gobiidae found in the Indian and Pacific Ocean.
Cabillus is a genus of gobies native to the Indian and Pacific oceans.
Gladiogobius is a genus of gobies native to the Indian and western Pacific oceans.
Grallenia is a genus of gobies native to the western Pacific Ocean.
Hetereleotris is a genus of gobies native to the western Indian Ocean and the western Pacific Ocean.
Lotilia is a small genus of gobies native to the Indo-Pacific region. The members of this genus are commensal with shrimps of the genus Alpheus.
Myersina is a genus of ray-finned fish from the family Gobiidae, the true gobies which are found from the Atlantic coast of South Africa through the Indian Ocean to the western Pacific Ocean. The generic name honours the American ichthyologist George S. Myers (1905-1985) who was a younger colleague of Herre's at the time at which he described the genus and who went on to be president of the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists, the head of the Division of Fishes at the United States National Museum and an ichthyologist for the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.
Obliquogobius is a genus of gobies native to the Indian Ocean and the northwestern Pacific Ocean.
Paedogobius kimurai is a species of goby from the subfamily Gobionellinae, and the only member of the monotypic genus Paedogobius. It is native to marine and brackish waters of inner bays in Japan, Thailand and Australia. Its English language common names include wide-gape paedomorphic goby and babyface goby. Its Japanese language common name is shirasukiba-haze.
Stonogobiops is a genus of gobies native to the Indian and Pacific oceans. This is one of the "shrimp goby" genera, the members of these genera being commensal with various species of shrimps.
