The Coaster was a passenger train of the Southern Pacific on its coast route between Los Angeles and San Francisco, California. Service began on December 6, 1901, as daylight coach trains number 1 and 2 called the Coast Line Limited. These trains were renumbered 21 and 22 on November 15, 1902, and renamed the Coaster on February 28, 1906. Service was briefly cancelled from June 9 to December 22, 1912. Service was discontinued for a decade in December, 1916. Service resumed when sleeping cars were added to trains renumbered 69 and 70 in April, 1926, and briefly renamed the Oceanshore Express. The name Coaster was again used from September 25, 1927, until the older equipment was replaced with lightweight chair cars running as Starlight trains 94 and 95 on October 2, 1949. Diesel locomotives pulled the Starlight from January 10, 1955, until it was consolidated with the Lark on July 15, 1957. [1]
The Pacific Surfliner is a 350-mile (560 km) passenger train service serving the communities on the coast of Southern California between San Diego and San Luis Obispo.

It was advertised as the "most beautiful passenger train in the world," carrying a particular red, orange, and black color scheme. The train operated from 1937 until 1974, being retained by Amtrak in 1971. Amtrak merged it with the Coast Starlight in 1974.
The Spirit of California was a passenger train operated by Amtrak between Los Angeles and Sacramento, California. It operated from 1981 to 1983 with financial support from the State of California. It was the first overnight service between the two cities since the Southern Pacific Railroad discontinued the Lark in 1968 and one of few state-supported Amtrak trains with sleeper service. The train used the Southern Pacific's Coast Line, complementing the Coast Starlight which served the route on a daytime schedule.

The Beaux-Arts building was designed by architect Jarvis Hunt, a preeminent railroad station architect, and opened in 1912. The station has not been served by trains since 1994.

The Lark was an overnight passenger train of the Southern Pacific Company on the 470-mile (760 km) run between San Francisco and Los Angeles. It became a streamliner in 1941 and was discontinued on April 8, 1968. The Lark ran along the same route as the Coast Daylight and was often pulled by a locomotive wearing the famous Daylight paint scheme of orange, red, and black.

The Glendale Transportation Center is an Amtrak and Metrolink train station in the city of Glendale, California. It is served by the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner inter-city rail route and the Metrolink Ventura County Line and Antelope Valley Line commuter rail routes.
Camarillo station is a passenger train station in Camarillo, California. Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner between San Luis Obispo and San Diego and Metrolink's Ventura County Line between Los Angeles Union Station and Ventura–East station stop here. It is located at the foot of Ventura Boulevard at the intersection of Lewis Road, and is underneath the US Highway 101 overpass. A lengthy pedestrian overcrossing must be used to transfer between the platforms so a shorter tunnel route is planned. The first Camarillo depot was at this same location until Southern Pacific ended passenger service.
The Cascade was a passenger train of the Southern Pacific on its route between Oakland, California, and Portland, Oregon, with a sleeping car to Seattle, Washington. The Southern Pacific started the train on April 17, 1927, soon after the opening of its Cascade Line between Black Butte, California, and Springfield, Oregon.

The West Coast was a named train of the Southern Pacific Railroad from Los Angeles to Portland via the San Joaquin Valley. It had through car service to Seattle via the Great Northern Railway. Unlike the West Coast, Amtrak's Coast Starlight takes the Coast Line through San Luis Obispo and Oakland; no Southern Pacific passenger train was ever scheduled to run from Los Angeles to Portland via Oakland.
The Union Pacific heritage fleet includes commemorative and historic equipment owned by the Union Pacific Railroad. The fleet currently consists of two historic steam locomotives, three historic diesel locomotives, seventeen modern diesel locomotives in historic or commemorative paint schemes and nearly four dozen passenger cars used on office car specials and excursion trains.
