Stamford is a city in Fairfield County,Connecticut,United States,34 miles outside of New York City. It is the sixth-most populous city in New England. Stamford is also the largest city in the Western Connecticut Planning Region,and Connecticut's second-most populous city,behind Bridgeport. With a population of 135,470,Stamford passed Hartford and New Haven in population as of the 2020 census. It is in the Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk-Danbury metropolitan statistical area,which is part of the New York City metropolitan area.

William Morten Tong is an American lawyer and politician who is the 25th and current Attorney General of Connecticut. Born in Hartford,Connecticut,Tong attended Brown University and the University of Chicago Law School. He began his career as an attorney with the law firms Simpson Thacher &Bartlett and Finn Dixon &Herling. In 2006,Tong entered politics upon winning election to the Connecticut House of Representatives to represent the 147th district,which includes most of North Stamford. He served six terms in the House from 2007 to 2019. During this period,Tong chaired the banking committee from 2011 to 2015 and the judiciary committee from 2015 to 2019.

Caroline Simmons is an American politician serving as the mayor of Stamford,Connecticut. She is married to former Republican State Senator Art Linares. Simmons won the 2021 Stamford mayoral election,becoming the city's first female mayor.
Jahana Hayes is an American educator and politician serving as the U.S. representative for Connecticut's 5th congressional district since 2019. The district,once represented by U.S. Senator Chris Murphy,comprises much of the state's northwestern portion,including New Britain,Danbury,and Waterbury. A member of the Democratic Party,Hayes is the first Black woman and Black Democrat to represent Connecticut in Congress. She was recognized as the National Teacher of the Year in 2016.

Carlo Leone is an American politician serving as the senior adviser to ConnDOT commissioner Joseph Giulietti. Leone formerly represented the 27th district of the Connecticut State Senate as a Democrat from 2011 until his resignation in 2021. While in the State Senate,he served as deputy president pro tempore and chair of the Transportation Committee. Leone also served in the Connecticut House of Representatives representing the 148th district from 2003 to 2011. As a Democrat,he served as the deputy majority whip in the House of Representatives.
Kimberly Song Fiorello is an American politician who served as a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives from the 149th District,which encompasses parts of Greenwich and Stamford,for the Republican Party from January 6,2021 to January 4,2023. Earlier in her political career she served on the Representative Town Meeting (RTM) in Greenwich,from 2017 to 2020. She was part of Connecticut's Conservative Caucus.

Incumbent Democratic mayor David Martin sought re-election to a third term in office,but lost renomination to state representative Caroline Simmons. Simmons,who was also endorsed by the Independent Party,faced unaffiliated candidate Bobby Valentine.
