The Denmark national rugby league team represents Denmark in the sport of rugby league. They are official observers of members of the Rugby League European Federation. Danish rugby league stats, news, team results and other information can be seen on Denmark's RLEF Page. [2]

History

Denmark participated in rugby league in the late 2008. The national team lost their first match in 2009, 28–26 to Norway in Copenhagen.

They first won in 2011 in the Nordic Cup (Between Denmark, Norway and Sweden). In 2014, they beat Sweden and Norway to become the first team to win the Nordic Cup twice . They then became the first team to retain the Nordic Cup in 2015 after beating Sweden and Norway to win their third trophy.

The first domestic tie (actually including the Scania region of Sweden) was between København RLFK (precursor to Copenhagen RLFC) and Sweden Barbarians in 2012.

All of the Danish national team are selected from either Jutland RLFC (Jylland) and Copenhagen RLFC .

Other

Since 2013, the Denmark rugby league team have promoted the Cystic Fibrosis Forening, the national cystic fibrosis association of Denmark.

Allan A. Lamport Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium on King Street West in the Liberty Village neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is the practice facility for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. It is also partial home for Canada national rugby league team. The playing surface of the 9,600 seating capacity stadium is also dually marked for soccer and field hockey. The stadium was named for long-time Toronto politician Allan Lamport, who was associated with sporting activities in the city.

Rugby league is a minor team sport in Norway. The sport is administered there by Rugby League Norge, which was set up in late 2008. Rugby League Norge works according to RLEF and NIF laws.

Jamie Bloem is a former dual code rugby player and rugby league referee. He currently coaches amateur rugby league side Elland ARLFC. He played representative rugby league for South Africa and Scotland. At club level for Cape Town Coasters, Castleford Tigers, Oldham, Doncaster, Widnes Vikings,Halifax Panthers, Huddersfield Giants and player-coach for Stainland Stags ARLFC, as a fullback, wing, centre, scrum-half, second-row, or loose forward.

Sport in Denmark is diverse. The national sport is running, but club sport is football with the most notable results being qualifying for the European Championships six times in a row (1984–2004) and winning the Championship in 1992. Other significant achievements include winning the Confederations Cup in 1995 and reaching the quarter final of the 1998 World Cup. Other popular sports include handball, esports, cycling, sailing sports, badminton, ice hockey, swimming, and recently also golf. A few youths also play basketball.

The Norway national rugby league team was founded in 2008. Rugby League in Norway is played through junior and amateur level. There is a small seven-team premier competition and several development cups. They are recognized by the Norwegian Rugby Federation and the Rugby League International Federation as having affiliate status.

The Hungary national rugby league team, known as the Magyar Bulls, represents Hungary in the sport of rugby league football. Making their debut against the Czech Republic in July 2011, they played their first ranked international against Greece in October 2013.

Robin Peers is an English former professional rugby league footballer who went on to be head coach of the Boston Thirteens in the USARL, and interim Head Coach of the USA Hawks National Team. He played 13 years for his only club Gateshead Thunder. He made his first grade début in 2002 as a winger, and played there for most of his career, however his final season in 2012 was spent playing full back. Peers was a prominent part of the Gateshead Thunder team that were championship winners in 2008.

The Nordic Cup is a rugby league tournament played annually between Denmark national rugby league team, Norway and Sweden. It was first played in 2011, in which Denmark claimed the trophy with victory over Norway at Gladsaxe Stadium in Greater Copenhagen. For the first three years, the tournament was acknowledged by the Rugby League European Federation (RLEF), but the games were not recognised as full internationals. In 2014, the fixtures were played in accordance with RLEF regulations and recognised as full internationals.

The Rugby League Federation Ghana is the governing body for the sport of rugby league in Ghana. The RLFG was formed on 6 April 2014.

The Danish Rugby League Championship is the contest for the domestic championship in rugby league. As there are two clubs in Denmark, Copenhagen RLFC and Jutland RLFC, this competition is combined with the Danish State of Origin championship.

Rugby league is played in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which now has over 1000 registered players nationwide, many of which are juniors. These numbers are rapidly increasing each year.

The Sweden Rugby League is the governing body for the sport of rugby league football in Sweden. The Association was formed in 2009. The Swedish rugby league international side debuted in 2010 against their neighbours Norway.
