Fawkner is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 12 km (7.5 mi) north of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Cities of Hume and Merri-bek local government areas. Fawkner recorded a population of 14,274 at the 2021 census.
Fawkner railway station is located on the Upfield line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the northern Melbourne suburb of Hadfield, and it opened on 8 October 1889 as Fawkner. It closed on 13 July 1903, and reopened on 12 December 1906 as Fawkner Cemetery. It was renamed Fawkner in 1914.

John Pascoe Fawkner was an early Australian pioneer, businessman and politician of Melbourne, Australia. In 1835 he financed a party of free settlers from Van Diemen's Land, to sail to the mainland in his ship, Enterprize. Fawkner's party sailed to Port Phillip and up the Yarra River to found a settlement which became the city of Melbourne.

Batman's Treaty was an agreement between John Batman, an Australian grazier, businessman and coloniser, and a group of Wurundjeri elders, for the purchase of land around Port Phillip, near the present site of Melbourne. The document came to be known as Batman's Treaty and is considered significant as it was the first and only documented time when Europeans negotiated their presence and occupation of Aboriginal lands directly with the traditional owners. The treaty was implicitly declared void on 26 August 1835 by the Governor of New South Wales, Richard Bourke.

After being granted full ownership of CB Smith Reserve the re-branded Fawkner Soccer Club fielded their rebuilt senior side in 2012. In 2015, Fawnker were crowned champions of the State League Division 4 North, earning promotion to the State League Division 3 North-West.
George Arnot Maxwell was an Australian lawyer and politician. He was one of Melbourne's leading barristers, specialising in criminal law. He was also a member of the House of Representatives from 1917 until his death in 1935.
Joseph Francis Hannan was an Australian politician and trade unionist. Hannan was probably born in Yorkshire, England and emigrated with his family in 1888. He soon became involved in the union movement and was a member of the committee of the Melbourne Trades Hall Council that established the Political Labor Council of Victoria in 1900. In 1903, he married Agnes Theresa Phelan. He became president of the Victorian branch of the Labor Party in 1911.
