The Division of Monash is an Australian Electoral Division in the state of Victoria, which was contested for the first time at the 2019 federal election.
Federal electoral division boundaries in Australia are determined at redistributions by a redistribution committee appointed by the Australian Electoral Commission. Redistributions occur for the boundaries of divisions in a particular state, and they occur every seven years, or sooner if a state's representation entitlement changes or when divisions of a state are malapportioned. [1]
The division is named in honour of Sir John Monash, an Australian Allied military commander during World War I.
The Division of Monash is located in the western part of the Gippsland region, which extends for the length of Victoria's eastern Bass Strait coastline. It replaced the similarly-located Division of McMillan in 2018. Monash includes the towns of Warragul, Moe, Wonthaggi, Leongatha and Foster. The seat gained Phillip Island at the 2018 redistribution and overall it stretches from Mount Baw Baw and the Baw Baw National Park in the north to Wilsons Promontory, and the Wilsons Promontory National Park in the south. It is the southernmost Electoral Division in continental Australia. Monash was created in the mandatory redistribution of divisions in Victoria by the Australian Electoral Commission in 2018. [2]
Prior to the 2022 federal election, the seat was notionally held by the Liberal Party of Australia on a margin of 6.9%, making it a fairly safe seat for the party. [3] It is now held on a margin of around 3.2%, making it marginal. [4]

The 2022 Australian federal election was held on 21 May 2022. Whilst many thought incumbent Liberal member Russell Broadbent would retire before the 2022 election due to his old age and anti vaccination stance, [6] he was preselected by the Liberal Party again and won the seat despite a swing of over 3.6% towards Labor's Jessica O'Donnell on a two-party preferred basis. [7]
The Division of Higgins is an Australian Electoral Division in Victoria for the Australian House of Representatives. The division covers 41 km2 (16 sq mi) in Melbourne's inner south-eastern suburbs. The main suburbs include Armadale, Ashburton, Carnegie, Glen Iris, Kooyong, Malvern, Malvern East, Murrumbeena, Prahran and Toorak; along with parts of Camberwell, Ormond and South Yarra. Though historically a safe conservative seat, Higgins was won by the Liberal Party by a margin of just 3.9 percent over the Labor Party at the 2019 election, the closest result in the seat’s history. It then flipped to Labor in the 2022 election.
The Division of Corangamite is an Australian electoral division in the state of Victoria. The division was proclaimed in 1900, and was one of the original 65 divisions to be contested at the first federal election. It is named for Lake Corangamite, although the lake no longer falls within the division's boundaries.

The Division of Hindmarsh is an Australian Electoral Division in South Australia covering the western suburbs of Adelaide. The division was one of the seven established when the former Division of South Australia was split on 2 October 1903, and was first contested at the 1903 election, though on vastly different boundaries. The Division is named after Sir John Hindmarsh, who was Governor of South Australia from 1836 to 1838. The 78 km² seat extends from the coast in the west to South Road in the east, covering the suburbs of Ascot Park, Brooklyn Park, Edwardstown, Fulham, Glenelg, Grange, Henley Beach, Kidman Park, Kurralta Park, Morphettville, Plympton, Richmond, Semaphore Park, Torrensville, West Beach and West Lakes. The Adelaide International Airport is centrally located in the electorate, making noise pollution a prominent local issue, besides the aged care needs of the relatively elderly population − the seat has one of Australia's highest proportions of citizens over the age of 65. Progressive boundary redistributions over many decades transformed Hindmarsh from a safe Labor seat in to a marginal seat often won by the government of the day.

It was the southernmost electoral division in continental Australia. It was replaced by the Division of Monash in 2019.
