Dum Dum is an elevated metro station on the North-South corridor of the Blue Line of Kolkata Metro in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. [1] [2] [3] The metro station adjoins the platforms of the Dum Dum Junction railway station where connections can be made with Indian Railways services.
The Kolkata Metro Line 1 (Blue Line) was built in stretches from time to time. The first section opened between Esplanade & Bhawanipore (now called Netaji Bhawan) in 1984 and the stretch was not connected to the Dum Dum Metro station. Metro service started from Dum Dum to Belgachia in parallel with the extension of the line to the south but the service was stopped due to lack of passengers. The stretch was very unpopular. Metro service from Dum Dum metro station restarted in 1994 connecting Shyambazar metro station. The service from Dum Dum metro station to Tollygunge station started in 1995. Dum Dum metro station was the terminal station in the northern end of the city before the Blue line was extended to Dakshineshwar metro station.

Bus route number 30D, 30B, 30B/1, 202, 219/1, DN9/1, S168 (Mini), S10, AC38 etc. by Dum Dum Road serve the station. Currently 30B, 30B/1, 202 do not serve the station due to change of their routes for Tala Bridge closure. [4] [5]
It is connected to Dum Dum Junction railway station, is the meeting point Sealdah–Ranaghat line, Sealdah–Bangaon line and Grand Chord Link Line of Kolkata Suburban Railway.
This is the closest metro station to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport and is connected via Dum Dum Road and Jessore Road.
North Gate and Main Gate on South Sinthee Road. Subway connections available from Platform No 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Dum Dum Junction railway station and Dum Dum Road.
South Gate leads to Dum Dum Road.

Dum Dum Junction is a very important and busy junction station of the Kolkata Suburban Railway on the Sealdah–Ranaghat line. Its code is DDJ. Three lines branch out from Dum Dum in the north direction–the Kolkata Eastern line to Gede, the Calcutta chord line to Dankuni and the Sealdah–Hasnabad–Bangaon–Ranaghat line to Bangaon and Hasnabad. On the other hand, in the south direction, those three lines go towards Sealdah, while the Kolkata Circular Railway line arises from it towards Patipukur, and also ends to it through Bidhannagar Road after encircling the city of Kolkata through various important stations like Kolkata railway station and Majerhat. The Dum Dum metro station of the Blue line is adjacent to Dum Dum railway station. It serves Cossipore, Sinthee, Baranagar and Dum Dum areas.
The Kolkata Tram System, is a LRT that serves Kolkata, the capital city of the Indian state of West Bengal, operated by West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC) after Calcutta Tramways Company (CTC) was merged with WBTC. Being started in 1873 Kolkata tram is the oldest operating tram network in the world. Being electrified in 1902, Calcutta became the first Asian City with electric tramway. The Kolkata Tram is the only tram system operating now in India. With the help of periodic negligence, the Government of West Bengal had formed systematic initiatives to suspend the entire tram network from the city and sell properties. However, an apolitical organization named Calcutta Tram Users Association (CTUA) was formed in 2016 to advocate in favor of Kolkata's tram system. The network initially had up to 37 lines in the 1960s, but has gradually reduced over the years with only two lines currently operating due to financial struggles, poor maintenance, low ridership, addition of road flyovers, expansion of the Kolkata Metro, slow tram speed and perceptions that the trams are outdated and occupy too much road space. Jai Hind is a metro station of Kolkata Metro. It will serve the city of Kolkata's main airport, the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. As of March 2024 the station is planned to be open for service during October 2024.
Birati railway station is a Kolkata Suburban Railway station in Birati. It serves Birati and Nimta areas in North Dumdum, West Bengal, India. It lies between the Durganagar railway station and Bisharpara Kodaliya railway station. Madhusudan Banerjee Road connects the Barrackpore Trunk Road and Jessore Road through Birati.

Once a part of the old Calcutta–Jessore–Khulna line, today it is a busy suburban section of the Kolkata Suburban Railway's Sealdah North section. It is under the jurisdiction of the Sealdah railway division of the Eastern Railway zone of the Indian Railways.
