Elizabeth Downs is a northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia in the City of Playford. It is east of Main North Road, bounded by Main North Road, Uley Road, Adams Road, Yorktown Road and Garlick Road. [3] The suburb contains two government primary schools and a local shopping centre. Craigmore High School is just outside the northern boundary, and a larger shopping centre on the other side of Main North Road. It also has a tavern with bars, bistro and bottle shop.
The Argana Park sports precinct in the southwest of the suburb is home to football, rugby league, cricket and netball clubs. More playing fields in the northeastern corner of the suburb include a local soccer club and more cricket. Smith Creek linear park separates these from the rest of the suburb. There is a linear reserve along the easement for a major water pipe, the Barossa Trunk Main, running roughly north–south above ground through Elizabeth Downs. There is also a buffer reserve along Main North Road.

The town was named after Lieutenant Raymond, who had explored the Hunter River in 1797 and described the terraced appearance of trees in the area. It is a residential suburb 5 kilometres (2.5 mi) north-west of the central business district of Launceston, Tasmania's second largest city. The West Tamar Highway runs through the suburb, adjoining Riverside to the West Tamar, which includes small towns: Beaconsfield, and Beauty Point. Riverside is part of the West Tamar Council local government area. The suburb is now Launceston's largest by population, narrowly ahead of Kings Meadows. The main shopping centre opened in the 1960s and includes: a Woolworths supermarket, a bakery, a pharmacist and several retail shops.
Philip Highway is a road in the southern part of the Elizabeth area through the suburbs of Elizabeth and Elizabeth South. It connects from Main North Road adjacent to the Elizabeth City Centre to John Rice Avenue, and continues as a minor road ending at the Little Para River linear park.
