Thrissur, formerly Trichur, also known by its historical name Thrissivaperur, is a city and the headquarters of the Thrissur district in Kerala, India. Puthenvelikkara is a village in the Paravur Taluk Ernakulam district of Kerala, India. The Chalakkudy River merges with the Periyar River at Elenthikara in the village of Puthenvelikkara. Thrissur Corporation Stadium is football stadium owned by Thrissur Municipal Corporation. Situated in Thrissur city, it is also known as Palace Stadium. It is one of the oldest stadiums in Kerala, India and have a capacity to hold 15,000 people. The stadium was the home ground for international footballers like I.M.Vijayan, Jo Paul Ancheri etc. Recently the stadium is under renovation, and is being lifted to international standards. The stadium has the first synthetic football turf in Kerala state and the only football field in India to currently have a FIFA 2 star certification.
Varavoor, a lush green residential village in Thrissur district is in the state of Kerala, India. It is widely believed that this village was situated on the banks of Bharathapuzha during prehistoric times. Shrinking of the river over several millennia of human settlements has moved the village more distant from its banks. It is surrounded by small green hills and is 30 mins drive away from the cultural capital of Kerala. Varavoor was declared "litigation-free" village on 7 May 2000. Climatic conditions in and around Varavoor varies around the year. The well-known Palakkal Pooram is usually held in the month of February welcoming tourists from different parts of the country. During the month of February, paddy fields surrounding the Palakkal temple is usually fallow after harvest, making it ideal location for gathering for the pooram festivities and for fireworks at night.

City of Kollam or Quilon is known as Prince of Arabian Sea, situated on the banks of Arabian Sea and Ashtamudi Lake. A major portion of Kollam Municipal Corporation area is occupied by Ashtamudi Lake. It is the most visited backwater and lake of Kerala, with a unique wetland ecosystem, a palm-shaped large water body, next only to the Vembanad estuary ecosystem of the state. Ashtamudi means 'eight coned'(Ashta = 'eight'; mudi = 'coned') in the local language of Malayalam. This name is indicative of the lake's topography: a lake with multiple branches. The lake is also called the gateway to the backwaters of Kerala. This lake is extremely famous for House Boat and Backwater Resorts.
