The Energy Retail Association (ERA) was a trade association which promoted the interests of electricity and gas retailers in the domestic market in Great Britain, formed in 2003. [1] In April 2012 it merged with the Association of Electricity Producers and the UK Business Council for Sustainable Energy to become Energy UK. [2]

OVO Energy Energy supply company based in Bristol, United Kingdom

OVO Energy is an energy supply company based in Bristol, England. It was founded by Stephen Fitzpatrick and began trading energy in September 2009, buying and selling electricity and gas to supply domestic properties throughout the UK. By June 2017 OVO had 680,000 customers, an increase of 10,000 over the previous year, representing a 2.5% domestic market share. In November 2018, OVO Energy acquired one of its largest competitors, Spark Energy. Although at first one of over 15 smaller energy companies competing with the Big Six which dominated the market, in January 2020 OVO completed the acquisition of the retail arm of SSE, becoming itself one of the Big Six and the country's third-largest domestic energy supply company.

APX Group (APX) is an energy exchange operating the spot markets for electricity in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Belgium. Established in 1999, APX provides exchange trading, central clearing and settlement, and data distribution services as well as benchmark data and industry indices. APX has over 180 members from more than 15 countries. In 2014, a total volume of 92 TWh of energy was traded or cleared by APX.

The Utilities Intermediaries Association (UIA) is a trade body for UK Third Party Intermediaries (TPIs) in the business energy sector. Registered with the Trade Association Forum it is a company limited by guarantee and runs as a not-for-profit organization, which all TPIs; also known as energy brokers or consultants,, which facilitate the purchasing of electricity and gas between their clients and energy suppliers can join. Business energy TPIs work on behalf of businesses, providing a range of services such as procurement, query resolution, bill checking and energy management etc. in exchange for fees usually factored through the energy suppliers. This had led some TPIs to compromise their neutrality so they can earn the most commission through bias toward the suppliers that pay the most.

The Nuclear Industry Association (NIA) is the trade association for the civil nuclear industry in the United Kingdom. It represents more than 260 companies across the nuclear supply chain. The diversity of NIA membership enables effective and constructive industry-wide interaction. It publishes the quarterly magazine, Industry Link and it represents over 65,000 workers in the industry.

Bulb began trading in August 2015, buying and selling electricity and gas to supply domestic properties. It is one of over 70 smaller energy companies competing with the "Big Six energy suppliers" which dominate the UK market. Bulb competes on price, offering a single variable tariff. It supplies 100% renewable electricity and 100% carbon neutral gas. Attracting venture capital, Bulb runs at a financial loss while achieving rapid growth in customers.

Octopus Energy is a UK-based retail electricity and gas supplier specialising in sustainable energy. It was established in 2015 as a subsidiary of Octopus Group, a British asset management company. As of February 2021 the company had over 2 million domestic and business customers, as well as providing software services to other energy suppliers. Octopus Energy has operations in the UK, Germany, and the USA.
