The Isle of Wight is an island, English county and unitary authority in the English Channel, 2 to 5 miles off the coast of Hampshire, across the Solent. It is the largest and second-most populous island in England. Referred to as "The Island" by residents, the Isle of Wight has resorts that have been popular holiday destinations since Victorian times. It is known for its mild climate, coastal scenery, and verdant landscape of fields, downland, and chines. The island is historically part of Hampshire. The island is designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. With a land area of 380 km2 (150 sq mi), it is about half the size of Singapore.
Newport is the county town of the Isle of Wight, an island county off the south coast of England. The town is slightly north of the centre of the island, located in the civil parish of Newport and Carisbrooke. It has a quay at the head of the navigable section of the River Medina, which flows northwards to Cowes and the Solent. The 2021 census recorded a population of 25,407.
Cowes is an English seaport town and civil parish on the Isle of Wight. Cowes is located on the west bank of the estuary of the River Medina, facing the smaller town of East Cowes on the east bank. The two towns are linked by the Cowes Floating Bridge, a chain ferry.
Medina was a non-metropolitan district with the status of a borough on the Isle of Wight in England from 1974 to 1995.
East Cowes is a town and civil parish in the north of the Isle of Wight, on the east bank of the River Medina, next to its west bank neighbour Cowes. It has a population of 8,428 according to the 2021 Census.

The Isle of Wight Festival 2007 was the sixth revived Isle of Wight Festival on the Seaclose Park site in Newport, Isle of Wight. It took place between 8–10 June 2007. Tickets went on sale at 9am on Thursday 22 February and were sold out by Monday 26 February. It was the first festival since 2003 with no official sponsor.
Seaclose Park is a large parkland site situated to the North East of Newport on the Isle of Wight. It lies on the eastern banks of the River Medina. It has a variety of features which are available free to the community of the Island and to visitors. The features of the park include a skate park, three tennis courts, one cricket pitch and wicket, one bowling green, three netball courts and two five-a-side pitches. The park is along Fairlee Road, linking Newport to East Cowes and Ryde.

Staplers is a suburb of Newport, Isle of Wight, England, on the east side of the River Medina just under a mile from the town centre.
Island Harbour Marina, on the Isle of Wight, UK, is a commercial marina on the River Medina in the small hamlet of Binfield. It is located approximately halfway between Cowes and the County Town of Newport. Being a relatively small marina, it best suits pleasure craft of up to 20 metres in length. The marina accommodates both annual berthholders and short-term visiting craft.
Gunville is a small settlement on the Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England. It largely comprises housing, although there are also a small number of shops, a couple of charity shops, some retail warehouses, a snooker hall, Methodist Church and a fishing lake. The settlement seems to date from some time after 1800, although the vast majority of the buildings currently standing in Gunville date from after 1900.

The parish includes the settlements of Newport, Carisbrooke, Apesdown, Barton, Bowcombe, Clatterford, Cross Lane, Fairlee, Forest Side, Gunville, Hunny Hill, Pan, Parkhurst, Rowridge, Shide and Staplers. In 2011 the parish had a population of 25,496. The parish touches Arreton, Brighstone, Calbourne, Newtown and Porchfield, Chillerton and Gatcombe, Havenstreet and Ashey, Northwood, Shorwell, Whippingham and Wootton Bridge. There are 338 listed buildings in Newport and Carisbrooke. The community council is based in The Granary in Newport.
Hunny Hill is a suburb of the town of Newport, Isle of Wight, located in the north west of the town. It is situated 0.7 kilometres (0.43 mi) from the centre of Newport, which is the county town of the Isle of Wight, and is 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Cowes. The south of the suburb is located on the Lukely Brook which leads into the River Medina. To the east is the A3020 road.
Isle of Wight West is a constituency of the House of Commons in the UK Parliament. Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, it was first contested at the 2024 general election.
