Gilbert Emeka Nnaji (born 18 July 1966 in Umunike, Enugu East, Nigeria) is Nigerian politician. [1] He is the senator representing Enugu East senatorial district in the Nigerian Senate. [2] He was a senator of the 8th Senate of Nigeria.

He had his primary Education at Community Primary School, Amoji, Nike. He then proceeded to Boys High School Awkunanaw where he did his Secondary Education. He then attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he graduated with a B.Sc in Banking and Finance.

Gilbert Nnaji began his career in politics when he became the Chairman of the Enugu East Local Government from 1997 to 1998. He was again re-elected as Chairman from 1999 to 2002.

Gilbert contested for the Federal House of Representatives and won in 2003. He was in the Federal house of representatives for two tenures. It is worthy to note that he was Deputy House Leader while at the Federal House of Representatives. [3] [4]

Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke was a two time Nigerian senator who represented the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State from 2007 to 2011 and was elected again under the banner of the All Progressives Congress in 2015. James Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo is a Nigerian businessman and politician who was governor of Anambra State (1979–1983) during the Nigerian Second Republic and was Senator for Enugu East Senatorial District in Enugu State (1999–2003). The election will be held two weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.

The 2019 Nigerian Senate election in Enugu State was held on February 23, 2019, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Enugu State. Ike Ekweremadu representing Enugu West, Chimaroke Ogbonnia Nnamani representing Enugu East and Utazi Chukwuka representing Enugu North all won on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party.

The 2011 Nigerian Senate election in Enugu State was held on April 9, 2011, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Enugu State. Gilbert Nnaji representing Enugu East, Ike Ekweremadu representing Enugu West and Ayogu Eze representing Enugh North all won on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party.
