Senator Usman Bayero Nafada (born 2 January 1961) is a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria representing Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency of Gombe state,and a former senator for the Gombe North senatorial district in 2015 under the umbrella of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He was the 2019 Peoples Democratic Party's gubernatorial candidate in Gombe State. [1] Nafada holds different titles and awards which include Sarkin Yakin Nafada,Dan Rimin Gona,Madawakin Akko,Durbin Tangale,Maje Keran Funakaye,Enyi of Igbo Anambara,Garkuwan Matasan Arewa,and Commander of the Order of Niger (CON).
Nafada was born in January 1961 in Gombe State to Bayero Nafada. [2] He holds a teacher's certificate from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU),Zaria,Kaduna State and degrees in accountancy from both ABU [2] and the University of Maiduguri,Maiduguri,Borno State. [3]
Nafada was a member of the Gombe State House of Assembly. He held the position of Majority Leader of the House and later became Speaker for the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) from 1999 until 2003, [4] and held the post of Speaker starting in June of that term. [2] He was previously the Assistant State Auditor of Gombe State. [3]
Nafada was elected to the national House of Representatives in 2003 as an ANPP candidate for Dukku/Nafada,but switched to PDP membership when his state began to vote that way. After the resignation of Babangida Nguroje amid the Patricia Etteh corruption scandal, [4] Friday Itulah of Edo State nominated Nafada to succeed Nguroje as Deputy Speaker. He was elected unopposed on 2 November 2007. [2] However,in July 2018,less than a year to the next national election,Nafada,along with 14 other members defected from APC to PDP. [5]
Gombe State is a state in northeastern Nigeria,bordered to the north and northeast by the states of Borno for 93 km in the vicinity of Gongola River and Lake Dadin Kowa and Yobe in the vicinity of Gongola River for 140 km,to the south by Taraba State for 58 km,to the southeast by Adamawa State for 95 km,and to the west by Bauchi State for 277 km. Gombe is the state capital of Gombe state and it was formed from a part of Bauchi State on 1 October 1996. Of the 36 states in Nigeria,Gombe is the 21st largest in area and the 32nd most populous,with an estimated population of about 3.25 million as of 2016. The state bears a slogan "Jewel in the Savannah".
Mohammed Danjuma Goje was a former Governor of Gombe State,Nigeria under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP),taking office on 29 May 2003 during the 2003 Gombe State gubernatorial election. He is now a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Its headquarter is in the town of Nafada in the east of the area at 11°05′44″N11°19′58″E,on the Gongola River which traverses the area. She served in the 8th and 9th Assemblies of the Nigerian House of Representatives representing Dukku and Nafada Federal constituency,Gombe State,Nigeria. She was the chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Electoral and Political Parties. She was defeated in the 2023 House of Representatives elections in her reelection bid.
Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya is a Nigerian businessman and politician who has served as the governor of Gombe State since 2019.
The Gombe State House of Assembly is the legislative arm of the government of Gombe State of Nigeria. It is a unicameral legislature with 24 members elected from the 11 local government areas of the state delineated into 24 state constituencies. Local government areas with considerably larger populations are delineated into two constituencies to give equal representation. This makes the number of legislators in the Gombe State House of Assembly 24.
The 2019 Gombe State gubernatorial election occurred in Nigeria on 9 March 2019,the APC nominee Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya won the election,defeating Usman Bayero Nafada of the PDP. Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya emerged APC gubernatorial candidate after scoring 859 votes and defeating his closest rival,Mohammed Jibrin Barde who received 463 votes. He picked Manasseh Daniel Jatau as his running mate.
The 2015 Gombe State gubernatorial election was the 8th gubernatorial election of Gombe State. Held on April 11,2015,the People's Democratic Party nominee Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo won the election,defeating Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress.
The 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections were held for state governors in 31 out of 36 Nigerian states. All but three elections were held on 18 March—concurrent with elections to every state house of assembly,three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections—while the Imo State,Kogi State,and Bayelsa State elections will be held on 11 November. The last regular gubernatorial elections for all states were in 2019. All states have a two term limit for Governors which makes 18 incumbent governors ineligible for re-election.
The 2023 Gombe State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023,to elect the Governor of Gombe State,concurrent with elections to the Gombe State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya is running for a second term and was renominated by his party.
The 2015 Nigerian Senate election in Gombe State was held on March 28,2015,to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Gombe State. Mohammed Danjuma Goje representing Gombe Central and Usman Bayero Nafada representing Gombe North won on the platform of All Progressives Congress,while Joshua Moltobok representing Gombe South won on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party.
The 2019 Nigerian House of Representatives elections in Gombe State was held on February 23,2019,to elect members of the House of Representatives to represent Gombe State,Nigeria.
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Gombe State will be held on 25 February 2023,to elect the 3 federal Senators from Gombe State,one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election,as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives;with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
