Abdul-Aziz Murtala Nyako (born 19 December 1970) is a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from Adamawa State. He represents Adamawa central in the current 8th National Assembly. [1] Senator Nyako is the chairman of the Special Duties Committee of the 8th National Assembly. [2]
Nyako was elected as a senator into the 8th National Assembly under the All Progressives Congress (APC) but later decamped to the African Democratic Congress to contest as governor for Adamawa. [3] He is the son of the former governor of Adamawa state,Murtala Nyako.
Adamawa central Senatorial District covers seven local government areas.
Adamawa State is a state in the North-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria,bordered by Borno to the northwest,Gombe to the west,and Taraba to the southwest while its eastern border forms part of the national border with Cameroon. It takes its name from the historic emirate of Adamawa,with the emirate's old capital of Yola serving as the capital city of Adamawa State. The state—one of the most heterogeneous in Nigeria with over 100 indigenous ethnic groups—was formed in 1991 when the former Gongola State was broken up into Adamawa and Taraba states.
Bamanga Tukur (CON) is a Nigerian businessman and politician who served as Minister for Industries in the administration of General Sani Abacha during the 1990s. He is one of the high-profile civil servants and military officers who acquired large areas of farmland along the various River Basin authorities. He is currently life patron of ABR. He was president of the Africa Business Roundtable in 2012. From March 2012 to January 2014,Tukur was National Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
Vice Admiral Murtala Nyako (rtd),GCON,CFR:rcds,D.Agric. (H.C.) was elected Executive Governor of Adamawa State,Nigeria,taking office in May 2007. Prior to then he served in the Navy,at one time being military governor of Niger State,and being appointed Chief of Naval Staff in December 1989.
James Shaibu Barka was elected a member of the Adamawa State,Nigeria House of Assembly,and was appointed Speaker. When Adamawa State Governor Murtala Nyako's election was nullified in February 2008,Barka became Acting Governor,handing back to Nyako after he had been reelected on 29 April 2008.

Bindow was elected governor of Adamawa State after defeating Nuhu Ribadu and Markus Gundiri in the April 2015 Adamawa State gubernatorial election. In 2019,he sought re-election for a second term in office but was defeated by opposition People's Democratic Party's candidate,Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

He became the acting Governor of Adamawa State following the impeachment of admiral Murtala Nyako the former governor of the state in July 2014,handing later to Bala James Ngilari after serving for three months.

Bala James Ngilari is a Nigerian lawyer and former governor of Adamawa State,Nigeria from October 1,2014 to May 29,2015. He was the deputy Governor from 2017- 2015 under Murtala Nyako He was succeeded by Bindo Jibrilla,the winner of the 2015 Adamawa gubernatorial election. Ngilari was sentenced to five years in jail without option of fine by a Yola High court for corruption,but was soon afterward acquitted and freed by the Court of Appeals.
The 2007 Adamawa State gubernatorial election was the 4th gubernatorial election of Adamawa State. Held on April 14,2007,the People's Democratic Party nominee Murtala Nyako won the election,defeating Joel Madaki of the Labour Party.

The 2008 Adamawa State gubernatorial by-election occurred on April 26 2008. Incumbent PDP Governor Murtala Nyako won re-election in the supplementary election,defeating ACN candidate to emerge winner.
The 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections will be held for state governors in 30 out of 36 Nigerian states. All but two will be held on 11 March while the Kogi State and Bayelsa State elections will both be held around November. The last regular gubernatorial elections for all states were in 2019. All states have a two term limit for Governors which makes 18 incumbent governors ineligible for re-election.
The 2023 Adamawa State gubernatorial election will take place on 11 March 2023,to elect the Governor of Adamawa State,concurrent with elections to the Adamawa State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. It will be held two weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is eligible to run for re-election,but has not yet stated whether he will do so.
The 2015 Nigerian Senate election in Adamawa State was held on March 28,2015,to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Adamawa State. Binta Masi Garba representing Adamawa North,Ahmad Abubakar representing Adamawa South and Abdul-Aziz Nyako representing Adamawa Central all won on the platform of All Progressives Congress.
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Adamawa State will be held on 25 February 2023,to elect the 3 federal Senators from Adamawa State,one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election,as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives;with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries will be held between 4 April and 3 June 2022.
