Kabiru Gaya was elected vice president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) for Africa at the 135th general assembly of the union in Geneva, Switzerland October 2016. [2]

He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) and the Nigerian Large Scale Farmers Association (NLSFA). He was awarded an honorary Doctorate Degree by the University Of Science And Applied Management, Porto-Novo, Benin. [9] He is also a member of the committee on Marine Transport. [10]

Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso, FNSE, FNIQS is a Nigerian politician who was the Governor of Kano state from 1999 to 2003 and 2011 to 2015. Bello Muhammad, known as Bello Matawalle, is a Nigerian politician and teacher who has served as the Governor of Zamfara State since 2019. After briefly serving in the Abacha-era state house of assembly and serving as a state commissioner from 1999 to 2003 in the Ahmad Sani Yerima administration in the Fourth Republic, he first won a elected office in 2003 as a member of the House of Representatives for Bakura/Maradun and retained the office until 2015 first as a member of the All Nigeria Peoples Party before switching to the People's Democratic Party in 2011. Four years after losing his Bakura/Maradun Constituency seat in 2015, Matawalle became the 2019 PDP gubernatorial nominee and won the office after a Supreme Court ruling disqualified the original winner. In 2021, he defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress after a defection rally in Gusau alongside most Zamfara State elected officials.

Alhaji Usman Alhaji is a Nigerian politician, an educationist and member of the Executive Council of Kano State who is currently serving as Secretary to the State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje(as of 2022). He is also the Waziri of Gaya Emirate Council. He is currently the owner of Usman International School, the first all inclusive education institution in Kano State for both normal students and those with all kinds of special needs.

The 2023 Kano State gubernatorial election will take place on 11 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Kano State, concurrent with elections to the Kano State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election will be held two weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.

The 2019 Nigerian Senate election in Kano State held on February 23, 2019, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Kano State. Ibrahim Shekarau representing Kano Central, Jibrin I Barau representing Kano North and Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya representing Kano south all won on the platform of All Progressives Congress.

The 2015 Nigerian Senate election in Kano State was held on March 28, 2015, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Kano State. Barau I Jibrin representing Kano North, Rabiu Kwankwaso representing Kano Central and Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya representing Kano South all won on the platform of All Progressives Congress.

Abdullahi Ahmed Sumaila born on 22 October 2001, is known by the royal title of Dandarman Sumaila, he is a District Head title holder at North West Nigeria, Sumaila Local Government of Kano State at Rano Emirate. He is a member of the Muallimawa dynasty a branch of the Aliyawa, House of Maiduniya and Banu Gha with descent from the noble Madinawa, Jobawa, Toronkawa and Hausawa clans of the Arabs, Fulani and Hausa tribes, called the Hausa-Fulani Arabs.

The 2019 Nigerian House of Representatives elections in Kano State was held on February 23, 2019, to elect members of the House of Representatives to represent Kano State, Nigeria.

The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Kano State will be held on 25 February 2023, to elect the 3 federal Senators from Kano State, one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election, as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives; with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
