Mohammed Sani Saleh (born 11 November 1955) is a retired Nigerian army major general and former Senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district at the Nigerian National Assembly,elected 9 April 2011 during the national elections on the platform of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). [1]
In the 9 April 2011 elections,Saleh's competitors were the former executive secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund,Hamisu Yusuf Abubakar (Mairago) of the People's Democratic Party (PDP),and Hajia Halima Aminu Turaki of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). [2] After being declared the winner,Saleh praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conduct of the election,saying "it has performed creditably well this time around,very commendable,I hope this will be repeated in subsequent elections". [3]
During the Presidential elections on 16 April 2011,there was an attempt by youths in Kaduna to provoke an incident when Vice-President Namadi Sambo of the PDP arrived at a polling station to cast his vote. Saleh supported the authorities in suppressing the incident,saying "We must respect constituted authority. Even our tradition ask us to respect our elders". He again praised the conduct of the election,describing it as a model. [4]
The People's Democratic Party is one of the two major contemporary political parties in Nigeria,along with its main rival,the All Progressives Congress.

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN),formerly known as Action Congress (AC),was a Nigerian political party formed via the merger from the coming together of a faction of Alliance for Democracy,the Justice Party,the Advance Congress of Democrats,and several other minor political parties in September 2006. The party controlled Lagos. It was regarded as a natural successor to the progressive politics more closely associated with the Action Group and Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) led by Chief Obafemi Awolowo in the First and Second Republics respectively. However,criticism of the party's more pragmatic and less ideological political outlook associated with AG and UPN,has made many argue it was less of a worthy political heir. The Party had strong presence in the South West,Mid-West and North Central Regions. Lagos,Edo,Ekiti,Kogi,Ondo,Bauchi,Plateau,Niger,Adamawa,Oyo and Osun states by far accounts for majority of the party's presence and discernible power base.
Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke;15 January 1955 –23 April 2017) was a Nigerian politician,he was a two time senator who represented Osun West from 2007 to 2011 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and was elected again under the banner of the All Progressives Congress in 2015. He ran for re-election in April 2011 on the PDP platform,coming second with 77,090 votes behind the eventual winner Mudasiru Oyetunde Hussein of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) who polled 121,971 votes.

Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa was a Nigerian politician who served as governor of Kaduna State from 2010 to 2012. He was appointed deputy governor of Kaduna State in July 2005,following the death of Stephen Shekari and was elected in 2007. He was sworn in as governor on 20 May 2010,replacing Governor Namadi Sambo who had been sworn in as vice president the day before. Yakowa successfully ran for election as Kaduna Governor in the 26 April 2011 polls.
Muktar Ahmed Mohammed Aruwa was a Nigerian senator. He was first elected to the senate in 1999 as a representative of Kaduna State for the All People's Party (APP). Aruwa sat on several senate committees and opposed the privatization of public enterprises. He was re-elected in 2003 as a member of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP),the successor to the APP. He was involved in a dispute over committee appointments,claiming unfair play by the senate leadership. Aruwa's name was dropped from the ANPP party list for the 2007 election.

The 2023 Kaduna State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023,to elect the Governor of Kaduna State,concurrent with elections to the Kaduna State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.

Shehu Sani representing Kaduna Central and Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi representing Kaduna North won on the platform of All Progressives Congress,while Danjuma Laah representing Kaduna South won on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party.
