Yakubu Oseni listen (born 1975) is a Nigerian politician and a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for Kogi Central Senatorial District of Kogi State,Nigeria. [1] He was elected in the February 2019 Nigerian general elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). [2] [3] [4]
Oseni won the Senatorial seat with 76,120 votes, [5] followed by Natasha Akpoti of the Social Democratic Party (Nigeria),who scored 48,336 votes to come second,the incumbent Senator,Ahmed Ogembe of the Peoples Democratic Party (Nigeria),who came third scored 19,359 votes in the 2019 General Elections [6] [7]
He was the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (2016–2018) appointed by Governor of Kogi State Yahaya Bello. [8] [9]
Kogi East Senatorial District is the largest of the three senatorial districts in Kogi State with nine local governments and 51 per cent of total voter population of Kogi State. The senatorial district covers Idah,Ibaji,Igalamela/Odolu,Ofu,Dekina,Ankpa,Olamaboro,Bassa and Omala local governments. The district is currently represented by Senator Jibrin Isah.
Kogi Central Senatorial District covers 5 local government areas which include,Adavi,Ajaokuta,Okehi,Okene,and Ogori-Mangogo. The current representative is senator Yakubu Oseni.
The 2019 Nigerian Senate election in Kogi State held on February 23,and November 16,2019. Smart Adeyemi representing Kogi West,Yakubu Oseni representing Kogi Central and Jibrin Isah representing Kogi East all won on the platform of All Progressives Congress,unseating their predecessors in the People's Democratic party.
The 2023 Kogi State gubernatorial election will take place on 11 November 2023 to elect the Governor of Kogi State. Incumbent APC Governor Yahaya Bello is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term. The primaries are scheduled for between 27 March and 17 April 2022.
