The table below shows the list of Nigerian senators of the 9th National Assembly. [1] The Senate includes three senators from each of the 36 states, plus one senator for the Federal Capital Territory. The Senate president is the head of the house, and assisted by the deputy Senate president. [2] The Senate president and his deputy also work with the principal officers in the house including the majority leader, deputy majority leader, minority leader, deputy minority leader, chief whip, deputy chief whip, minority whip and deputy minority whip.   1. In July 2019, Kebbi North Senator Yahaya Abubakar Abdullahi became Majority Leader, however, Abdullahi resigned after defecting to the PDP in June 2022. [5] APC leadership chose Gobir as his replacement. [6]
  2. In July 2019, Abia South Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe became Majority Leader; however, Abaribe resigned after defecting to APGA in May 2022. [7] The next month, PDP leadership chose Aduda as his replacement. [8]
  3. In July 2015, Taraba South Senator Emmanuel Bwacha became Deputy Minority Leader; however, Bwacha resigned after switching to the APC in February 2022. PDP leadership chose Lau as his replacement. [9]
  4. In July 2015, FCT Senator Philips Tanimu Aduda became Minority Whip; however, Aduda was nominated as Minority Leader in June 2022. [8] At the same time, PDP leadership chose Chukwuka as his replacement. [8]
  5. In July 2019, Zamfara North Senator Sahabi Yaú became Deputy Minority Whip, however, Yaú resigned before switching to the APC in June 2021. PDP leadership chose Sokoto South Senator Ibrahim Abdullahi Danbaba as his replacement. [10] However, Abdullahi Danbaba defected too, in April 2022, so PDP leadership chose Kaduna South Senator Danjuma Laah for the position. [11]
  6. 1 2 The PDP's Stephen Odey and Agom Jarigbe fought in court over the by-election's PDP nomination; Odey won both initial court decisions and the by-election before taking office late in December 2020. However, Jarigbe later won several court challenges which declared him the legitimate PDP nominee and thus Senator. Jarigbe took office in September 2021.

Bello Muhammad popularly known as Bello Matawalle is a Nigerian politician and teacher who has served as the minister of state for defence since 2023. He previously served as the governor of Zamfara State from 2019 to 2023.

Ibrahim Abdullahi Danbaba(born 1 January 1953) is Nigerian politician and accountant, He is the Senator representing Sokoto South Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023 Bauchi State gubernatorial election</span> 2023 gubernatorial election in Bauchi State, Nigeria

The 2023 Bauchi State gubernatorial election took place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Bauchi State, concurrent with elections to the Bauchi State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—was held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Bala Mohammed initially declined to run for re-election, instead running for president. However, after losing the PDP presidential primary in May 2022, Mohammed was renominated in a rerun primary. Mohammed was re-elected as governor by a 9% margin over first runner-up and APC nominee — former Chief of the Air Staff Sadique Abubakar.

The 2023 Sokoto State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Sokoto State, concurrent with elections to the Sokoto State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.

The 2019 Nigerian Senate election in Sokoto State was held on February 23, 2019, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Sokoto State. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko representing Sokoto North, Shehu Abubakar Tambuwal representing Sokoto South and Abdullahi Ibrahim Gobir representing Sokoto East all won on the platform of All Progressives Congress. But the Court of Appeal Sokoto Division on 30 October 2019 sacked Shehu Abubakar Tambuwal representing Sokoto South on the platform of All Progressives Congress. Ibrahim Abdullahi Danbaba on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party replaced the sacked senator.

The 2019 Nigerian Senate election were held in all 109 senatorial districts where voters elected senators using first-past-the-post voting. Most elections were held on February 23, 2019, with some elections running into February 24 while others had supplementary or rerun elections that took place at a later date. The last regular senatorial elections for all districts were in 2015.
