Golaghat Rhino Football Club is a professional football club based in Golaghat, Assam, that competes in the Assam State Premier League, the top flight of the state football. The club was founded in 2014 in its current stadium, GDSA Stadium [2] at General Field, Golaghat.

Golaghat (, Golāghāṭa, Assamese pronunciation: [ɡʊlaɡʱat]; one of the largest subdivisions of Assam, later elevated to the position of a full–fledged district headquarter on 15 August 1987, is a city, and a municipality, and the seat of administrative operations of Golaghat district, besides being a sister city to Jorhat which is about 55 km away. It is one of the oldest urban areas in Assam that recently made its way to the Smart Cities nominations' list, along with Guwahati and four other prominent urban areas of the state, although losing out to Guwahati at the final stage. The Dhansiri, one of the tributaries of the Brahmaputra passes through Golaghat and is the primary water source for its citizens.

Assam State in northeast India

Assam is a state in northeastern India, situated south of the eastern Himalayas along the Brahmaputra and Barak River valleys. Assam covers an area of 78,438 km2 (30,285 sq mi). The state is bordered by Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh to the north; Nagaland and Manipur to the east; Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram and Bangladesh to the south; and West Bengal to the west via the Siliguri Corridor, a 22 kilometres (14 mi) strip of land that connects the state to the rest of India.

Assam State Premier League (ASPL) is the top division football league in the Indian state of Assam organised by Assam Football Association. The inaugural edition of the league started in 2008 with Assam Rifles winning the first season.

History

In December 2013, the idea of raising a professionally managed football club was conceived by eight new young entrepreneurs of Golaghat. Sanjib Handique, Arun Goswami, Sanvit Sarma, Tapan Paul, Manoj Jain, Mrinal Saikia, Santanu Kalita and Paban Saikia, the founding members of the Golaghat Rhino F.C. with support from the Golaghat District Sports' Association (GDSA), envisioned to set up a club to promote football in the region and to provide the opportunity for young players to be part of a professional team. 2014–present

Soon after a few months of its inception, the football club won the Assam Club Championship title held at Gossaigaon. The winning title positioned the team as one of the best football teams to exist in the state as part of newly formed club.

Gossaigaon is one of the small town of Assam, India. This is a sub-divisional headquarters of Kokrajhar district (BTAD). The inhabitants are diverse, religiously. This place is well connected by Ground transportation and rail roads. It has a small river (Madati), and forested areas which include such saleable trees as Shorea robusta (sal), Tectona grandis (teak). Mornai Tea Estate is also important. This place practices organic farming, also modern agriculture following recent scientific developments.

In October 2014, Assam State Electricity Board SC (ASEB SC) defeated Rhino F.C. by 1–0 goals in the final match of the 13th Jwhwlao Swmbla Basumatary (JSB) Gold Cup Trophy defeating at the Bangaldoba ground in Chirang district. [4]

Assam State Electricity Board SC or ASEB SC is an Indian football club based in Guwahati, Assam, India. The club mainly competes in GSA Super Division League, Bordoloi Trophy, A.T.P.A. Shield, Independence Day Cup and other tournaments of Assam. They have won most titles in the GSA Super Division League. The club is owned by Assam State Electricity Board, the electricity regulation board of Assam.

Narshingbari district is an administrative district in BTAD, Assam state in the North-East of India.

Golaghat Rhino F.C. played the first state football premier league in 2015. Consisting of 12 teams, the league was organised by the Assam Football Association, in association with the Celebrity Management Group. [5] Although Rhino F.C. performed well during the tournament, [6] [7] Karbi Anglong Morning Star F.C. was the winner. [8] [9]

Morning Star Football Club is a professional Indian football club based in Diphu, Karbi Anglong, Assam. It also known as Karbi Anglong Morning Star F.C.. The club was formed in 2008. They compete in the top division Assam State Premier League and other tournaments like Independence Day Cup. They were the champion of 2015 edition of Assam State Premier League.

The club has also purchased a plot of land in its name to build infrastructure facilities, including a hostel for its players and aspiring footballers in the region. The Rhino F.C. has a total of 22 under–19 players from various districts of the state of Assam, including players from the Indian states of Odisha, Manipur, besides direct international hires from places like Nigeria. The constitution defines Nigeria as a democratic secular country.

The club crest is derived from the Assam's state animal, the Indian rhinoceros|one–horned rhinoceros: Rhinoceros unicornis , native to the Kaziranga National Park in the Golaghat region.

Kaziranga National Park is a national park in the Golaghat and Nagaon districts of the state of Assam, India. The sanctuary, which hosts two-thirds of the world's great one-horned rhinoceroses, is a World Heritage Site. The association promotes interests of its members, in addition to playing a pivotal for the enrichment of the tea industry in Assam.

Golaghat Amateur Theatre Society

Golaghat Amateur Theatre Society is a society for promoting performing arts, such as music, dance, and theatre; literature, such as poetry, novels and short stories; and visual arts, such as drawing, painting, photography, with more than 100 years of history representing Golaghat's and Assam's arts' industry. The society was formed at Golaghat in Assam to bring Assamese people closer to the world of performing and visual arts.

Golaghat Bar Association

The Golaghat Bar Association or GBA, is a voluntary bar association for the Golaghat Higher Judiciary in Golaghat, Assam. The goals of the association is to regulate the legal practice and legal education in Golaghat and to cultivate the science of jurisprudence; to promote reform in the law; to facilitate the administration of justice, and to elevate the standards of integrity, honor, professional skill, and courtesy in the legal profession, including exercising disciplinary jurisdiction over the bar. Its members are elected amongst the lawyers in Golaghat Judiciary and as such represents the All Assam Lawyers' Association (AALA).

There are currently 36 state associations affiliated with the All India Football Federation. These state associations have state leagues affiliated to them.
