As of the census [4] of 2000, there were 496 people, 190 households, and 139 families residing in the township. The population density was 10.1 people per square mile (3.9/km2). There were 331 housing units at an average density of 6.7/sq mi (2.6/km2). The racial makeup of the township was 99.80% White and 0.20% Native American.
There were 190 households, out of which 31.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.9% were married couples living together, 7.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.8% were non-families. 21.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 3.05.
In the township the population was spread out, with 25.4% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who were 65 years of age or older.
