Some governors, representatives and board members of Romblon, just like everybody in the province, are related. Jose Firmalo y Fetalino, for example, was the uncle of Eduardo Firmalo y Chang and Perpetuo Ylagan's wife Divina Fondevilla y Grimares was the niece of Patriotismo Fondevilla y Fainsan. The current vice-governor Felix Ylagan is the son of Perpetuo Ylagan by Divina Fondevilla and therefore, grandnephew of the late governor Patriotismo Fondevilla. [6]
Romblon, officially the Province of Romblon, is an archipelagic province of the Philippines located in the Mimaropa region. Its main components include Romblon, Romblon, an archipelagic municipality of the same name that also serves as the provincial capital; Tablas, the largest island, covering nine municipalities; Sibuyan with its three towns; as well as the smaller island municipalities of Corcuera, Banton, Concepcion, San Jose. The province lies south of Marinduque and Quezon, east of Oriental Mindoro, north of Aklan and Capiz, and west of Masbate. According to the 2020 census, it has a total population of 308,985.

Voters selected candidates for all Local positions: a Municipal Mayor, Municipal Vice Mayor and Municipal Councilors, as well as Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the Governor, the Vice Governor, and a Representative for the lone district of Nueva Vizcaya to the House of Representatives. Those elected took their respective offices on June 30, 2022, for a three-year term. 252,486 of 296,233 registered voters voted in this election.
