The Governor of Aurora (Tagalog : Punong lalawigan ng Aurora) is the local chief executive of the province of Aurora, Philippines since 1979. Before being an independent province, Aurora was a sub-province of Quezon headed by the lieutenant governor from 1951–1978. [1]

Its capital is Baler and borders, clockwise from the south, the provinces of Quezon, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, and Isabela. Maria Aurora is the only landlocked town in the province and yet, the most populous. It is the only province in Central Luzon that has no chartered cities.

Prior to being governor, she served three consecutive terms as representative of the lone district of Aurora from 1995 to 2004. She was the first and so far the only woman in the history of the Philippine Congress to become House majority floor leader.

Rommel Rico Teh Angara, better known as Rommel T. Angara is a Filipino politician. He is the incumbent representative of the lone district of Aurora elected in May 2019. He was the acting governor of the province of Aurora from mid-2018 to early 2019. He was the vice governor of the same province from 2013 to 2019. As a former vice governor, he acted as the presiding officer of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, or the provincial board or legislature, of Aurora province.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Aurora's at-large congressional district</span> House of Representatives of the Philippines legislative district

Aurora's at-large congressional district is the sole congressional district of the Philippines in the province of Aurora. It has been represented in the House of Representatives since 1987 and earlier in the Batasang Pambansa from 1984 to 1986. Aurora first elected a single representative provincewide at-large for the Regular Batasang Pambansa following its creation as a regular province separate from Quezon in 1978 and the subsequent 1984 Philippine constitutional plebiscite that amended the 1973 constitution and abolished the regional at-large assembly districts. Before 1978, the province was represented in the national legislatures as part of Quezon's 1st and at-large congressional districts. The district was re-created on February 2, 1987 following the ratification of the 1987 constitution that restored the House of Representatives. It is currently represented in the 18th Congress by Rommel T. Angara of the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP).
