Heath is located at 31°21′29″N86°28′13″W / 31.35806°N 86.47028°W (31.358154, -86.470193). [2] According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.89 square miles (2.3 km2), of which 0.012 square miles (0.03 km2), or 1.13%, is water. [3]

As of the census [6] of 2000, there were 249 people, 119 households, and 69 families residing in the town. The population density was 273.6 inhabitants per square mile (105.6/km2). There were 138 housing units at an average density of 151.6 per square mile (58.5/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 88.35% White, 9.24% Black or African American, 0.40% Native American, 2.01% from other races. 3.21% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 119 households, out of which 31.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 40.3% were married couples living together, 12.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 41.2% were non-families. 39.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 26.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.09 and the average family size was 2.73.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 24.9% under the age of 18, 4.0% from 18 to 24, 30.1% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 18.5% who were 65 years of age or older.
