Scotland and Wales have played each other at rugby union since 1883. A total of 130 matches have been played, with Wales winning 75 matches, Scotland winning 52 matches and three matches drawn. [1]

Contents

Scotland and Wales play each other at least once a year, as both play in the annual Six Nations Championship, and its predecessor competitions.

Since 2018 the winners of the Scotland and Wales match will receive the Doddie Weir Cup.

The national rugby union teams of Scotland and South Africa have been playing each other in Test rugby since 1906, and as of November 2021, they have met in 28 Test matches. Their first meeting was on 17 November 1906, and was won 6-0 by Scotland and their most recent match was on 10 September 2023 at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, and was won 18-3 by South Africa.

The 1876 association football match between the national teams representing Scotland and Wales was the first game played by the latter side. It took place on 25 March 1876 at Hamilton Crescent, Partick, the home ground of the West of Scotland Cricket Club. The match was also the first time that Scotland had played against a side other than England.

The history of rugby union matches between France and Scotland dates back to 1910 when the two teams played against each other in Edinburgh. Scotland won the match 27–0. Since then there have been a total of 102 games played, resulting in 59 wins for France, 40 wins for Scotland and 3 draws, as of August 2023.

The 2013 Six Nations Championship, known as the 2013 RBS 6 Nations because of the tournament's sponsorship by the Royal Bank of Scotland, was the 14th series of the Six Nations Championship, the annual northern hemisphere rugby union championship. It was contested by England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales.

The Wales national football team represents Wales in international association football and is governed by the Football Association of Wales (FAW). Between 1960 and 1979 the side played 118 matches, the majority of which came against the other national teams of the Home Nations in the British Home Championship. Their first match of the period was a 3–2 victory over Northern Ireland which secured a shared Home Championship title as Wales, England and Scotland each finished with four points.

The 2021 Six Nations Championship was the 22nd Six Nations Championship, the annual rugby union competition contested by the national teams of England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales, and the 127th edition of the competition. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament started just three months after the end of the previous tournament and all matches took place without spectators.

The 2022 Six Nations Championship was the 23rd Six Nations Championship, the annual rugby union competition contested by the national teams of England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales, and the 128th edition of the competition. Wales entered the tournament as defending champions.
