In India, this is a four-year undergraduate degree awarded by few universities and colleges which is equivalent to four-year Bachelor of Engineering with Honours.

It was declared as an Institute of National Importance (INI) in September 2020 by Parliament of India. Its new building/campus is under construction and is expected to be completed by July 2023. Meanwhile, the institute has not distributed degree certificates to students from the 2018-22 batches onwards, and as of now has no public plans to do so in the near future.
