Ironclad Games is a Canadian PC game developer. The company was founded in 2003 by former employees of Rockstar Vancouver. Ironclad is located in Burnaby, British Columbia.
Ironclad released their first game, Sins of a Solar Empire on February 4, 2008, a game that features a mix of components from real-time strategy and 4X strategy games. [1] They released the Entrenchment expansion on February 11, 2009. [2] The second expansion pack, Diplomacy, was released on February 9, 2010: the Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity combination package, which included the Entrenchment and Diplomacy expansions, was also released on the same day. [3] On February 21, 2012, they announced Sins of a Dark Age , a multiplayer online battle arena game set in a pre-war fantasy environment. A standalone expansion pack called Rebellion, was also released for Sins of a Solar Empire on June 12, 2012. [4] In 2022 Ironclad announced Sins of a Solar Empire 2, Beta Starting October 27, 2022 [5]
Ironclad's Iron Engine supports a number of advanced features including per-pixel specular lighting, dynamic fractal generation, post-process bloom filtering, environment mapping, custom pixel and vertex shaders for all meshes and effects and an advanced particle system.

Total War is a series of strategy games developed by British developer Creative Assembly for personal computers. They combine turn-based strategy and resource management with real-time tactical control of battles. Rather uniquely for real-time strategy games, flanking manoeuvers and formations factor heavily into gameplay. The first of the series, Shogun: Total War, was released in June 2000. The most recent major game released was Total War: Warhammer III on February 17, 2022. As of April 2021, the series has sold over 36 million copies.
Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings is a real-time strategy video game developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft. Released in 1999 for Microsoft Windows and Macintosh, it is the second game in the Age of Empires series. The Age of Kings is set in the Middle Ages and contains thirteen playable civilizations. Players aim to gather resources, which they use to build towns, create armies, and defeat their enemies. There are five historically based campaigns, which conscript the player to specialized and story-backed conditions, as well as three additional single-player game modes; multiplayer is also supported.

Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia is a turn-based strategy game developed by Jon Van Caneghem through New World Computing originally released for Microsoft Windows by The 3DO Company in 1999. Sins of a Solar Empire is a 2008 science fiction real-time strategy video game developed by Ironclad Games and published by Stardock Entertainment for Microsoft Windows operating systems. It is a real-time strategy (RTS) game that incorporates some elements from 4X games; its makers describe it as "RT4X". Players are given control of a spacefaring empire in the distant future, and are tasked with conquering star systems using military, economic and diplomatic means.

Stellaris is a 4X grand strategy video game developed by Paradox Development Studio and published by Paradox Interactive. In Stellaris, players take control of an interstellar civilization on the galactic stage and are tasked with exploring, colonizing, and managing their region of the galaxy, encountering other civilizations that they can then engage in diplomacy, trade, or warfare with. A large part of the game involves dealing with both scripted and emergent events, through which new empires alter the balance of power, powerful crises threaten the galaxy, or event chains tell the story of forgotten empires. It was released worldwide for Windows, macOS, and Linux on May 9, 2016 and for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as Stellaris: Console Edition on February 26, 2019.
Sid Meier's Civilization VI is a turn-based strategy 4X video game developed by Firaxis Games, published by 2K Games, and distributed by Take-Two Interactive. The Mobile port was published by Aspyr Media. The latest entry into the Civilization series, it was released on Microsoft Windows and macOS in October 2016, with later ports for Linux in February 2017, iOS in December 2017, Nintendo Switch in November 2018, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2019 and Android in 2020.
Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is a real-time strategy video game developed by Tantalus Media and Forgotten Empires and published by Xbox Game Studios. It is a remaster of the 2005 game Age of Empires III, celebrating the 15th anniversary of the original. It features improved visuals, a remastered soundtrack, two new game modes, and four new civilizations, plus African and Mediterranean-themed downloadable content as of June 2022. The Mediterranean expansion introduces the Italians as a playable civilization. It includes all previous expansions from the original game. It was released on October 15, 2020 for Microsoft Windows.
Imperator: Rome is a grand strategy wargame developed and published by Paradox Interactive, which was released on 25 April 2019. It is a spiritual successor to Europa Universalis: Rome, released by Paradox in 2008. It received generally positive reviews from critics.
Sid Meier's Civilization VI: Gathering Storm is the second official expansion pack for the turn-based strategy video game Civilization VI. It was released on February 14, 2019, about a year after the release of the first expansion Civilization VI: Rise and Fall. It is available for Microsoft Windows, macOS and Linux. The expansion adds new features, civilizations, leaders and wonders. Key additions are mechanics for natural disasters, and greenhouse gas emissions contributing to climate change and subsequent effects. It received generally positive reviews upon release.
