Jacob "Jake" Spiker Gibb (born February 6, 1976) is an American professional beach volleyball player, who currently plays on the AVP Tour with Taylor Crabb as his partner. Gibb and Casey Patterson represented the United States at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Previously, Gibb and Sean Rosenthal played together from 2006 to 2012. The duo represented Team USA at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.
Gibb was born and raised in Bountiful, Utah, where he played golf and basketball. His middle name is his mother's maiden name, Spiker. He did not play volleyball in college, but attended the University of Utah and graduated in 2002 with a degree in business. It was not until he turned 21 that he took up the sport of beach volleyball with his twin brother, Coleman. He has ten brothers and sisters. [1]
Gibb is a two-time cancer survivor. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2010 and also had a malignant melanoma removed from his left shoulder in 2002. [2]
He and his wife, Jane, were married in 2000 and moved to Southern California in 2002. They reside in Huntington Beach, California. [3]
Before partnering up with Crabb in 2017, he previously played with Sean Rosenthal, Mike Daniel, Stein Metzger, Ty Loomis and Adam Jewell. In 2005 with Stein Metzger, the duo played in 14 AVP events and won four, which led the tour. They also finished second three times and third five times.
In 2006, Gibb and Rosenthal played in 16 AVP events and won one – the very first event they played together. In 2007, they played in 17 AVP events and won two. They also finished second seven times and third twice. In 2008, they beat top-ranked American duo Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers in the final AVP Tour event before the 2008 Beijing Olympics in Long Beach, California. Overall, they played seven AVP Tour events in 2008 and won two, and also placed second in two.
Gibb made his Olympic debut at the 2008 Summer Olympics with Rosenthal. The team made it to the quarterfinals before losing to Brazilian duo of Ricardo Santos and Emanuel Rego. Gibb and Rosenthal finished 5th again at the 2012 London Olympics when they lost to the Latvian team. Although it was a disappointing finish at the London Olympics, Gibb and Rosenthal finished 1st in the world on the FIVB tour. After a great year, Gibb and Rosenthal decided to conclude their partnership and play with other teammates. The next year, Gibb began to play with Casey Patterson.
Gibb participated with Tri Bourne after Taylor Crabb withdrew due to COVID-19 at the 2020 Summer Olympics in 2021, at age 45, making him the oldest ever Olympic Beach Volleyball competitor and finished 9th. [4]
Misty Elizabeth May-Treanor is a retired American professional beach volleyball player. She is a three-time Olympic gold medalist, and as of August 2012, was the most successful female beach volleyball player having won 112 tournaments in domestic and international competition.
Rachel (Wacholder) Scott is a model and former professional beach volleyball player who won eight beach volleyball championships with three partners. Scott was named Best Defensive Player 2005 and Most Improved Player on the AVP Tour in 2005. By 2009, she had played in 168 beach volleyball events, 121 domestically and 47 internationally, and earned eight victories, 22 runner-up performances, and won over $750,000 in prize money.
Michael Dodd is an American retired professional beach volleyball player who attended San Diego State University. With his partner Mike Whitmarsh, he won the silver medal in the men's inaugural beach volleyball tournament at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Since winning silver in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, he has worked the Olympic Games of 2000 as a beach analyst and 2004 as an indoor analyst for NBC. In 2008, Dodd coached AVP stars Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal in the Beijing Olympics. Dodd also captained Team USA to a win over Brazil's best players in the inaugural AVP World Challenge in 2009.
Todd Jonathan Rogers is an American professional beach volleyball player who is an Olympic and FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship gold medalist. He and his former partner, Phil Dalhausser, were the 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 AVP Tour champions.
Stein Metzger is a former beach volleyball player from the United States. He is the head coach of the beach volleyball team at the University of Texas.

He and his former partner, Jake Gibb, represented the United States at the 2008 Olympic Games and 2012 Olympic Games in beach volleyball.
April Elizabeth Ross is an American beach volleyball player and three-time Olympic medalist. His father Peter Bourne and mother Katy Bourne are both triathletes.
Alison Conte Cerutti is a Brazilian beach volleyball player. He plays as a blocker. In 2011, along with Emanuel Rego he won the Swatch FIVB World Tour in Prague, Czech Republic. and the silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He won the gold medal at the 2015 World Championships in Netherlands. and the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio alongside teammate Bruno Schmidt. In 2019, Alison partnered with Álvaro Morais Filho. The team won their first gold medal at the FIVB Kuala Lumpur event. The duo also competed in the Tokyo 2020 journey. Since 2021 Alison has been playing with Guto Carvalhaes.
Alexandra Rose "Alix" Klineman is an American beach volleyball, 2020 Summer Olympics gold medalist, and former indoor volleyball player.
Casey Patterson is a professional American beach volleyball player based out of Huntington Beach, CA. Patterson and his former teammate, Jake Gibb, were named the USAV Team of the Year as well as AVP Team of the Year for 2013. Casey himself was named AVP Best Offensive Player for 2013. He has had a total of fifteen 1st-place finishes during his professional career.

Bruno Oscar Schmidt is a Brazilian beach volleyball player. He plays as a right-side defender. Bruno is the nephew of the former Brazilian basketball player Oscar Schmidt and of the TV news announcer Tadeu Schmidt. In 2010, he was named the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Most Improved Player. He was also named the Best Defensive Player in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Schmidt won the gold medal at the 2015 World Championships with his teammate Alison Cerutti in the Netherlands. He won the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics with Alison Cerutti.
Sarah Lindsey Pavan is a Canadian beach volleyball and former indoor volleyball player. She was part of the Canada women's national volleyball team at the 2010 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship in Japan. With Melissa Humana-Paredes she won the women's gold medal at the 2019 Beach Volleyball World Championships.
Taylor Crabb is an American beach volleyball player who plays as a left-side defender with his partner Taylor Sander. He has won eleven tournaments on the AVP Pro Tour, as well as one gold medal on the FIVB World Tour.

She and her partner Sara Hughes won the bronze medal at the 2013 U19 World Championships, the silver medal at the 2014 U21 World Championships, the gold medal at the 2023 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships and back-to-back NCAA Championships in 2016 and 2017.
Sarah Marie Sponcil is an American volleyball player for the Grand Rapids Rise of the Pro Volleyball Federation, best known for her beach volleyball career. Sarah competed for the USA Volleyball Beach National Team in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Sarah and partner Kelly Claes tied for 9th in their debut Olympics. At 24 and 25, Sponcil and Claes, respectively, were the youngest beach volleyball team to represent the USA since its inception as an Olympic sport in 1996.
