Jassa is a genus of amphipods in the family Ischyroceridae, comprising the following species: [2]
Caprellidira is a parvorder of marine crustaceans of the infraorder Corophiida. The group includes skeleton shrimps (Caprellidae) and whale lice (Cyamidae).
Gammaridea is one of the suborders of the order Amphipoda, comprising small, shrimp-like crustaceans. Until recently, in a traditional classification, it encompassed about 7,275 (92%) of the 7,900 species of amphipods described by then, in approximately 1,000 genera, divided among around 125 families. That concept of Gammaridea included almost all freshwater amphipods, while most of the members still were marine.
Ischyroceridae is a family of amphipods. It contains the following genera:
Podoceridae is a family of amphipods. It contains eight genera:
Pardaliscidae is a family of amphipods, whose members typically inhabit the deepest parts of ocean basins. It contains the following genera:
Talitridae is a family of amphipods. Terrestrial species are often referred to as landhoppers and beach dwellers are called sandhoppers or sand fleas. The name sand flea is misleading, though, because these talitrid amphipods are not siphonapterans, do not bite people, and are not limited to sandy beaches.
Paramoera is a genus of amphipods in the family Pontogeneiidae. It contains the following species:
Orchestia is a genus of amphipods in the family Talitridae, containing the following species:
Leucothoe is a genus of amphipods in the family Leucothoidae. It contains the following species:
Photis is a genus of amphipod crustaceans, containing the following species:
Corophiidira is a parvorder of marine amphipod crustaceans in the infraorder Corophiida. In a previous classification, this taxon was treated as an infraorder and was then itself called Corophiida.
Caprelloidea is a superfamily of marine crustaceans in the order Amphipoda. It includes "untypical" forms of amphipods, such as the skeleton shrimps (Caprellidae) and whale lice (Cyamidae). The group was formerly treated as one of the four amphipod suborders, Caprellidea, but has been moved down to the superfamily rank by Myers & Lowry after phylogenetic studies of the group, and is now contained in the infraorder Corophiida of the suborder Senticaudata. The group includes the following families.
Jassa marmorata is a species of tube-building amphipod. It is native to the northeast Atlantic Ocean but has been introduced into northeast Asia. J. marmorata are greyish in colour with reddish brown markings. The can grow to a length of up to 10 millimetres (0.39 in). They are generally found in fouling communities and intertidal areas where they build tubes of detritus and algae fragments using silky mucus secretions. They are remarkable for having two distinct morphs of males with two different mating strategies. The 'major' morphs are fighter males, while the 'minor' morphs are sneaker males.
Parhyale is a genus of amphipod crustaceans, containing the following species:
Ericthonius is a genus of amphipods in the family Ischyroceridae. There are at least 20 described species in Ericthonius.
Ampithoidae is a family of amphipod crustaceans. The family has a worldwide distribution as algal dwellers. They commonly create tube-shaped nests on their host plants or algae which serve as both shelter and food. Young ampithoids develop from eggs to a larval stage within their mother's brood-pouch, formed by the appendages of her abdomen.
Maera is a genus of amphipod crustacean in the family Maeridae, and was first described by William Elford Leach in 1814. The type taxon is Cancer (Gammarus) grossimanus Montagu, 1808, currently accepted as Maera grossimana.
Maeridae is a family of marine amphipods, which was first described by Taudl Krapp-Schickel in 2008.
Siphonoecetes is a genus of amphipods in the family Ischyroceridae, first described by Henrik Nikolai Krøyer in 1845 in the Karcinologiske Bidrag of the Naturhistorisk Tidsskrift. The type species is Siphonoecetes typicus Krøyer, 1845.
