Carl Johan Henrik Forssell (born 8 December 1979) is a Swedish politician of the Moderate Party. He has served as Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy in the cabinet of Ulf Kristersson since 10 September 2024,having served as Minister for Foreign Trade and International Development Cooperation prior to that. [2] and has been Member of the Riksdag since the 2010 general election,representing Stockholm Municipality. [3] He was chairman of the Moderate Youth League,the youth wing of the Moderate Party,from 2004 to 2006.
Johan Forssell was born in Stockholm but he grew up in Örebro. He has a Master of Business and Economics degree from the Stockholm School of Economics. He did his military service with the Arctic Rangers at K 4 in Arvidsjaur.
Forssell joined the Moderate Youth League (Swedish :Moderata ungdomsförbundet) in 1992. He served as chairman of the Moderate School Youth from 1998 to 1999 and was elected as member of the board of the Moderate Youth League in 2000. He was elected as new chairman of the Moderate Youth League on 20 November 2004,following the resignation of Christofer Fjellner. He served on this post until 25 November 2006,when he was succeeded by Niklas Wykman.
In the general election held on 17 September 2006,Forssell was elected a member of the Riksdag. As the new cabinet was announced on 6 October,Forssell was appointed as Chief of Staff to Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt. He left his place in the Riksdag following his new appointment.
In September 2007,Forssell resigned from the position of Chief of Staff and become the Moderate Partys planning manager for the 2010 general election. Following the 2010 election,he returned to the Swedish Parliament where he serves as member of the Defence Committee.
In October 2022 he was appointed as Minister for Foreign Trade and International Development Cooperation in the cabinet of Ulf Kristersson. Forssell stated the government would scrap the goal that at least 1% of GDP would be used in foreign aid,the goal being to prioritize the quality of the aid sent and spend more money internally in Sweden. In September 2024 Ulf Kristersson reshuffled his cabinet and Migration Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard was made the new Minister for Foreign Affairs. Forssell was appointed to replace her as Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy. He stated that he intended to keep with Stenergard's policies and maintain Sweden's lowest immigration numbers of the 21st century,as achieved under his predecessor. [5]
The Moderate Party,commonly referred to as the Moderates,is a liberal-conservative political party in Sweden. The party generally supports tax cuts,the free market,civil liberties and economic liberalism. Globally,it is a full member of the International Democracy Union and the European People's Party.
Ulf Adelsohn is a Swedish politician,leader of the Moderate Party from 1981 to 1986 and Governor of Stockholm County from 1992 to 2001. He was a member of the Riksdag from 1982 to 1988 and served as Chairman of the Board of SJ AB 2001–2011,from where he resigned due to quarrels with the Reinfeldt cabinet on its railway deregulation policies.

General elections were held in Sweden on 9 September 2018 to elect the 349 members of the Riksdag. Regional and municipal elections were also held on the same day. The incumbent minority government,consisting of the Social Democrats and the Greens and supported by the Left Party,won 144 seats,one seat more than the four-party Alliance coalition,with the Sweden Democrats winning the remaining 62 seats. The Social Democrats' vote share fell to 28.3 percent,its lowest level of support since 1911.

She is the chair of the Parliament's EU Committee and deputy group leader in the Parliament for the Moderates,as well as a member of the Parliamentary Board. Since September 2024 she has been Minister for European Union Affairs and Nordic Cooperation in the Kristersson cabinet.
Benjamin Arif Dousa is a Swedish politician of the Moderate Party. He was the national chairman of the Moderate Youth League from 2016 to 2020. He was re-elected to the position on 24 November 2018. In 2024 he was appointed as Minister for Foreign Trade and International Development Cooperation in the Kristersson cabinet.
General elections were held in Sweden on 11 September 2022 to elect the 349 members of the Riksdag who in turn elected the Prime Minister of Sweden. Under the constitution,regional and municipal elections were also held on the same day. The preliminary results presented on 15 September showed the government parties lost their majority,which were confirmed by the final results published on 17 September. After a month of negotiations following the elections that led to the TidöAgreement among the right-wing bloc,Moderate Party (M) leader Ulf Kristersson was elected prime minister on 17 October. The Kristersson cabinet is a minority government of the Moderates,Christian Democrats (KD) and Liberals (L) that relies on confidence and supply from the Sweden Democrats (SD).
In the 2018 Swedish general election,no political group or party won an outright majority,resulting in a hung parliament. On 9 September,the Red-Greens,led by Stefan Löfven's Social Democrats (S),emerged as the main political force in the Riksdag,while the centre-right Alliance led by Ulf Kristersson's Moderate Party only got one seat less. The right-wing populist party Sweden Democrats,led by Jimmie Åkesson,came third. As a result,protracted negotiations were required before a new government formation. On 18 January 2019,Löfven was re-elected as prime minister.

It is a coalition government consisting of three parties:the Moderate Party,the Christian Democrats,and the Liberals. Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson carried out the first cabinet reshuffle of his premiership on 10 September 2024,announcing it during his Declaration of Government speech at the Opening of the Riksdag. The cause for the reshuffle was that Minister for European Union Affairs and Nordic Cooperation Jessika Roswall had earlier in the year,following the 2024 European Parliament election,been nominated by the government to become Sweden's European commissioner for the 2024–2029 term,forcing her to leave her ministerial role. Later,on 4 September,Foreign Minister Tobias Billström announced his surprise resignation,creating another hole to fill in Kristersson's cabinet.
