Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? is a 2005 Indian Tamil-language reality stand-up comedy television show that airs on Star Vijay and streams on Disney+ Hotstar. Over eighteen years, Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? has had nine seasons. The winners of the show are awarded the title of Comedy King and cash prizes. The first season premiered in 2005.

The first season of Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? was aired on 2005. Madhan Bob and Chinni Jayanth as the judges, Uma Riyaz Khan as the host. 'Kovai' Guna was announced the Winner of the Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? season 1.

The second season of Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? 2 was aired on 2006. Pandiarajan and Sadagoppan Ramesh as the judges, Swarnamalya as the host. Sivakarthikeyan was the Winner of the Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? season 2.

The third season of Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? 3 was aired on 2007. Uma Riyaz Khan and V. Sekhar as the judges. Sethu and Dhivyadharshini as the hosts. Aadhava was the Winner of this season.

The fourth season of Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? 4 was aired on 2008. Uma Riyaz Khan and Pandiarajan has officially once again been appointed as the judges for the second time. Sethu and Ramya Subramanian as the hosts. Arjun was the Winner of this season.

Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? returned with its 5th season after 7 years. It began broadcasting on 26 July 2015 and finished on 14 August 2016 with 54 Episodes. [2] The Judges are Thadi Balaji, Erode Mahesh, Mimicry Sethu, Aarthi, Madhumitha and Vijay TV anchor Priyanka Deshpande. Rakshan and VJ Jacqueline as the hosts. The title winner of Season 5 is Mohammed Kureshi and the runner up is Aranthangi Nisha.

Season 6

Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? returned with its 6th season. It began broadcasting on 21 August 2016 [6] with Thadi Balaji, Erode Mahesh, Sethu, Priyanka Deshpande and Aarthi as the judges with Rakshan and Jacqueline has officially once again been appointed as the hosts for the second time. The title winners of Season 6 is Vinoth and Bala.

Season 7

The 7th season started on 1 October 2017. Erode Mahesh, Thadi Balaji, Sethu, Priyanka Deshpande and Aarthi as the judges, with Rakshan and Jacqueline as the hosts. The final episode was aired on 1 April 2018 and ended with 51 episodes. The winner of the season was Azhar and TSK.

Several guests that included in the grand finale are actor Silambarasan and Oviya. [7]

Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? 8 started on 19 January 2019 and finished on 15 June 2019 with 41 episodes on Star Vijay [8] and was telecast on every Saturday and Sunday at 21:30 onwards. [9] The Grand final episode was aired on 15 June 201 on Saturday at 20:00. Thadi Balaji and Erode Mahesh as the hosts with Actress Kovai Sarala and Radha as the judges for this season. The title winner of Season 8 is Niranjana and the runner up is Mukesh and Monisha Blessy. [10]

The 9th season of the Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? show, premiered on 9 February 2020. [11] The Judges are Ramya Pandian, Vanitha Vijayakumar, Erode Mahesh, Madurai Muthu and Aadhava (winner of KPY4). [12] Azhar and Naveen as the hosts. The title winner of Season 9 is Jayachandran and the runner up is Giri and Shiva. [13]

Several guests that included in the grand finale are actor Aranthangi Nisha,Robo Shankar, Yogi Babu and ‘Cooku with Comali’ star Pugazh as the special guests.

Anand previously worked as a radio jockey for six years with Radio Mirchi in Dubai. He started his acting career with the film Vanavarayan Vallavarayan in 2014. He has hosted the show Adhu Idhu Edhu after Siva Karthikeyan.

Radhakrishnan Ramanathan is a Tamil orator and stand-up comedian based in the town of Devakottai in Tamil Nadu, India. Having participated and won in a number of oratorical competitions during the school days, Ramanathan became known to the Tamil TV viewers through Vijay TV's hit TV show "Kalakka Povathu Yaru", a show promoting stand-up comedy in the Tamil Language. Subsequently, Ramanathan appeared in a number of other shows like Sun TV's "Asatha Povathu Yaaru", Raj TV's "Agada Vigadam", "Sirippom Sindhippom", and Vijay TV's "Tamil Paechu Engal Moochu". Ramanathan holds a degree in Law from the Madurai Law College. Ramanathan has been invited by organizations in India and in countries like Singapore, UAE and Kuwait and Bahrain to perform in front of their Tamil speaking audience with his powerful and entertaining oratory skills.

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs is an 2016 Indian-Tamil language musical reality TV game show, which airs on Zee Tamil. The show based on the Hindi Language show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs. He previously worked for Raj TV and Kalaignar TV. His debut film was En Kadhal Devathai with which although the movie was ready to release in 2011, it remained unreleased. In 2020, he acted in a second movie Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal directed by Desingh Periyasamy with Dulquer Salmaan playing the lead role.

Erode Mahesh is an Indian television presenter, actor, writer, comedian, video jockey and educator. He is well known for his works in the television field and is currently serving as one of the judges in the comedy premiere show, Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? which is broadcast on Star Vijay alongside Thadi Balaji, Priyanka Deshpande, Mimicry Sethu and Aarthi. Mahesh has also acted in supportive roles through few Tamil films after making his film acting debut in the 2012 film, Sattam Oru Iruttarai. He also appeared as a lead actor in the 2017 film, Inayathalam alongside Ganesh Venkatraman. Erode Mahesh is also known for his Tamil phrase, Adra Adra when encouraging the performers in television shows.

<i>Bigg Boss</i> (Tamil TV series) season 2 Season of television series

Bigg Boss 2 was the second season of the reality television series, Bigg Boss, and was hosted by Kamal Haasan. The season had 17 housemates, and was filmed with 60 cameras. It ran for 15 weeks, and aired on Star Vijay weekdays from 9–10:30 am and 9–11:00 pm on weekends. Hotstar provided content not aired on television and provided Fun Unlimited, a parallel weekly programme. Hosted by Rio Raj, it humorously described events in the house.

Vadivel Balaji was an Indian television comedian, mimicry artist and actor. He received the nickname Vadivel after gaining fame among audience for imitating popular Tamil comedian Vadivelu's voice in television programmes. He was well known for his works in the television field and appeared in prime time Star Vijay television programmes such as Kalakka Povathu Yaaru , Siricha Pochu inAdhu Idhu Yedhu. He also took part as a contestant in the eighth season of the reality television show Jodi Number One. He and his wife participated in Mr & Mrs Chinnathirai season 2, he also appeared in Start Music segments shortly before his demise.

Cooku with Comali, also known by the acronym CWC, is an Indian Tamil-language comedy-based cooking competition show aired on Star Vijay and streams on Disney+ Hotstar where the contestants are paired each week with comedians (comalis) who are amateur cooks. The first season premiered on 16 November 2019 and ended on 23 February 2020. The second season premiered on 14 November 2020 and ended on 14 April 2021. The third season premiered on 22 January 2022 and ended on 24 July 2022. The fourth season premiered on 28 January 2023 and ended on 30 July 2023. The contestants along with their comalis are challenged every week and are judged by Chef Damu and Chef Venkatesh Bhat until season 4.

<i>Bigg Boss Ultimate</i> season 1 Indian reality digital show spin-off

Bigg Boss Ultimate was the first season of the Tamil Indian reality Streaming television of Bigg Boss Ultimate, the spin-off to Bigg Boss Tamil and the first series to be released exclusively on Star India streaming service Disney+ Hotstar. The season launched on 30 January 2022 with Kamal Haasan as a host, but he has exited the show from week 3 onwards, due to scheduling conflicts with his upcoming film Vikram. Later, Silambarasan continued as a host from week 4 onwards.

He has made appeared in television comedy shows including "Konjam Nadinga Boss", "Super Challenge", "Comedy Junction", "Savaale samaali", "Galatta rani", "Lollu pa", and "Maanga Idiots". Aadhavan has also acted in movies predominantly in Tamil, and often performs in live orchestras.

Comedy Raja Kalakkal Rani is a 2021 Indian Tamil-languagecomedy series that premiered on 27 June 2021 and was broadcast on Star Vijay. The show is hosted by video and radio jockey Rakshan and television host Priyanka Deshpande. The show was telecast every Sunday at 1:30pm. The show launched on 27 June 2021 and aired its final episode on 14 November 2021. Madurai Muthu, Baba Bhaskar, Aishwarya and Uma Riyaz Khan served as the judges for this show.

Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? Champions or KPY Champions is a 2017 Indian Tamil-language reality Stand-up comedy television show, that airs on Star Vijay and streams on Disney+ Hotstar. Over six years, KPY Champions has aired three seasons. Grace Karunas, Thadi Balaji and Ma Ka Pa Anand were the judges for the first two seasons.

Balan Aakash, commonly known as KPY Bala or Vettukili Bala, is an Indian actor and comedian. He rose to fame after appearing on Star Vijay's Cooku with Comali.

<i>Dance Jodi Dance Reloaded</i> Indian TV series or programme

Dance Jodi Dance Reloaded is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language reality television dance competition show and is part of Dance Jodi Dance. It began broadcasting on Zee Tamil from 30 July 2012. RJ Vijay and Keerthi Shanthanu were hosts of the show which was judged by Choreographer Baba Bhaskar, Sneha and Sangeetha Krish are the judges of the show.
