Karnal is a city located in the state of Haryana, India and is the administrative headquarters of Karnal District. City is well connected as it lies on National Highway 01, in the south of the city lies the city of Panipat, Sonepat and in the north lies Kurukshetra and Yamunanagar city while in the east lies the river Yamuna, on the other end of which lies Saharanpur and Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh on the eastern Bank. Karnal was used by the East India Company army as a refuge during the Indian Rebellion of 1857 in Delhi. The Battle of Karnal between Nader Shah of Persia and the Mughal Empire took place in this city in 1739.

Manohar Lal Khattar is an Indian politician who is serving as the 33rd Minister of Power, 40th Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs since 2024. He also served 10th Chief Minister of Haryana from 26 October 2014 till his resignation on 12 March 2024. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a former RSS pracharak. He represented the Karnal constituency in the Haryana Legislative Assembly since 2014 till 2024. He was elected to the Lok Sabha, lower house of the Parliament of India from Karnal, Haryana in the 2024 Indian general election. As of June 2024, he serves as the Minister of Power and Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs in the Third Modi Ministry.

Rakesh Daultabad was an Indian politician. He was elected to the Haryana Legislative Assembly from Badshahpur in the 2019 Haryana Legislative Assembly election as a member and Independent candidate. Daultabad defeated Manish Yadav of Bharatiya Janata Party. Later as an independent MLA he supported Manohar Lal Khattar's and Nayab Singh Saini's governments in Haryana. He was the founder of Parivartan Sangh, an organisation that aims at facilitating healthcare, improving education levels, empowering women and taking several other community initiatives. Improving Badshahpur's educational standards and healthcare and encouraging youth to enter politics are some of the key issues Daultabad focused on. He died from a heart attack at a private hospital in Gurugram, on 25 May 2024, at the age of 45.
