Kila Raipur is a noted village of Ludhiana district in Punjab, India [1] as it hosts the annual Kila Raipur Sports Festival, known as the Rural Olympics. [2] [3] The events played often demonstrate the physical strength and valor of the Punjabi men and women.
Ludhiana District is one of the 22 districts in the state of Punjab in northwest India. Ludhiana city, the district headquarters, is the hub of industry in Punjab. The main industries are bicycle parts and hosiery. Ludhiana is the biggest city of the state. It has eight tehsils, seven sub-tehsils and twelve development blocks. As of 2018, Total Population of Punjab is estimated to be 30,452,879.
Punjab is a state in northern India. Forming part of the larger Punjab region of the Indian subcontinent, the state is bordered by the Indian states of Jammu and Kashmir to the north, Himachal Pradesh to the east, Haryana to the south and southeast, Rajasthan to the southwest, and the Pakistani province of Punjab to the west. The five rivers from which the region took its name were Sutlej, Ravi, Beas, Chenab and Jhelum; Sutlej, Ravi and Beas are part of the Indian Punjab.
Kila Raipur Sports Festival, popularly known as the Rural Olympics, is held annually in Kila Raipur, in Punjab, India. Competitions are held for major Punjabi rural sports, include cart-race, athletic events and rope pulling.

Karnail Singh Grewal born on 1.11.1911, was son of Dasaundha Singh, a rich farmer of Kila Raipur. Karnail Singh was intensively involved in research in area of Physics holding three Indian Patents (114462, 112184 and 151968) in his name sharing one with Pritpal Singh Grewal (Ex Principal of Guru Nanak Dev Engieering College, Ludhiana). He died at the age of 89 on 4.3.2000 at Shahbad Markanda.
Gurnam Singh was an Indian politician and the Chief Minister of Punjab from 8 March 1967 to 25 November 1967, and again between 17 February 1969 to 27 March 1970. He was the first Shiromani Akali Dal Chief minister of Punjab. His ministry fell due to defection of Lachhman Singh Gill, who became the next Chief Minister with the support of the Indian National Congress. He died in an air crash in Delhi on 31 May 1973.
