The systematic name of this enzyme class is (S)-lactaldehyde:NAD+ oxidoreductase. Other names in common use include L-lactaldehyde:NAD+ oxidoreductase, and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+)-linked dehydrogenase. This enzyme participates in pyruvate metabolism.
