Lego Dino (stylized as LEGO Dino) was a Lego theme that was first introduced in 2011 after the discontinued Lego Dino Attack/Dino 2010 theme. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] The theme was inspired by Jurassic Park film as well as various dinosaurs films. It was eventually discontinued by the end of 2012.

The product line focuses on the humans encountered resurrected dinosaurs in their natural habitat, similar to the Jurassic Park films. [2]

Construction sets

According to Bricklink, The Lego Group released a total of 7 Lego sets as part of Lego Dino theme. [1] It was discontinued by the end of 2012. [10]

In 2011, The Lego Group announced the seven sets was released in November 2011. The seven sets being released were Ambush Attack (set number: 5882), Tower Takedown (set number: 5883), Raptor Chase (set number: 5884), Triceratops Trapper (set number: 5885), T-Rex Hunter (set number: 5886), Defense HQ (set number: 5887) and Ocean Interceptor (set number: 5888). Ambush Attack

Ambush Attack (set number: 5882) was released in November 2011. The set consists of 80 pieces with 1 minifigure. The set included Lego minifigures of the Driver and Coelophysis dinosaur.

Tower Takedown

Tower Takedown (set number: 5883) was released in November 2011. The set consists of 136 pieces with 1 minifigure. The set included Lego minifigures of the Pilot and Pteranodon dinosaur. [12] [13]

Raptor Chase

Raptor Chase (set number: 5884) was released in November 2011. The set consists of 259 pieces with 2 minifigures. The set included Lego minifigures of the Driver and Rex Tyrone. Also included Raptor dinosaur. [2] [12] [13]

Triceratops Trapper

Triceratops Trapper (set number: 5885) was released in November 2011. The set consists of 271 pieces with 2 minifigures. The set included Lego minifigures of the Driver and Tracer Tops. Also included Triceratops dinosaur. [12] [13] [14]

T-Rex Hunter

T-Rex Hunter (set number: 5886) was released in November 2011. The set consists of 480 pieces with 2 minifigures. The set included Lego minifigures of the Pilot and Chuck “Stego” Jenkins. Also included Pteranodon dinosaur. [2] [12] [13] [14]

Defense HQ

Defense HQ (set number: 5887) was released in November 2011. The set consists of 793 pieces with 4 minifigures. The set included Lego minifigures of the Driver, Pilot, Josh Thunder and Sue Montana. Also included T-Rex, Raptor and Coelophysis dinosaurs. [2] [12] [13] [15]

Ocean Interceptor

Ocean Interceptor (set number: 5888) also known as Pteranodon Chase was released in January 2012. The set consists of 222 pieces with 2 minifigures. The set included Lego minifigures of the Pilot and Hero. Also included Pteranodon dinosaur. [12] [13] [16]

Reception

In 2018, T-Rex Hunter (set number: 5886) was listed as one of the "Top 10 Best LEGO Helicopters Sets" by Lego fansite BricksFanz. [17]

A Lego minifigure, often simply referred to as a Lego figure or a minifig, is a small plastic articulated figurine made of special Lego bricks produced by Danish building toy manufacturer The Lego Group. Minifigures are usually found within Lego sets, although they are also sold separately as collectables in blind bags, or can be custom-built in Lego stores and on lego.com. Lego Adventurers was a Lego theme based on an early 20th century 'explorer' concept. It centred around the main character named Johnny Thunder and a team of explorers who go on adventures. Unlike other Lego themes, which take place in a fictional "Lego Universe", most of the Adventurers sets took places in real-world locations, such as Egypt, the Amazon rainforest, the Himalayas, India, and China. The only fictional sub-theme took place on an island where prehistoric creatures still lived. The theme was first introduced in 1998. The product line was discontinued in 2003 and replaced with the Lego Pharaoh's Quest theme in 2011.

Lego Exo-Force was a Lego theme that was launched in 2006 and discontinued in 2008. It focused on a team of elite pilots that used robotic mechanical machines (mecha) to protect their home against attacking robots. The backstory for the toy sets was detailed in associated media, including an online comic and a series of story books.

Lego Wild West was a Lego theme based on the Old West period of the United States. It was in production for only two years, from 1996 to 1997.

Lego Studios was a popular brand of Lego toys released in 2000 and mainly focused on movie-making and the steps thereof. Lego Studios was first distributed in November 2000, and was later discontinued in 2003. The last series in the franchise was the Lego Spider-Man set.

Lego Aqua Raiders was a Lego theme that was launched by The Lego Group in 2007 and discontinued the same year. The theme focused on a team of divers searching for treasure in the Bermuda Triangle. The product line consisted of seven construction toy sets released in the same year.

Lego Toy Story is a Lego theme based on the Disney·Pixar's Toy Story film franchise. The first four sets were released on December 30, 2009, with an additional two sets being released on January 4, 2010. In May, five Lego and four Duplo sets were released under the Toy Story 3 sub-theme. For the release of Toy Story 4 there was one Duplo set based on the third film and 6 Lego sets based on the fourth film. These sets were released in March and in April 2019 this time under the Juniors line. The minifigures in the sets were also now redesigned.

Lego Prince of Persia Lego theme

Lego Prince of Persia was a Lego theme based on the 2010 film Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. It was licensed from Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films. The theme was introduced in 2010 and was discontinued by the end of 2011.

Lego Minifigures are a 2010 Lego theme based on a set of collectible Lego minifigures. Each figure is an original character with new clothing and facial designs, and many contain previously unseen accessories. Each series usually contains 16 different minifigures; however, some series contain as few as 9 minifigures, while others contain up to 22. Since 2021, the number of different minifigures for a series is set to 12. In 2023, the Disney 100-anniversary series came out, bringing the total number of figures to 18, although it was once again reduced to 12 with the second Marvel series. This series also introduced paper boxes, instead of the plastic bags, making it no longer possible to feel up the pieces for each figure.

Lego Pirates of the Caribbean is a discontinued Lego theme that is based on the film series of the same name. It is licensed from Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films. There are nine known sets. The first wave was released in May 2011 with the second wave coming out in November 2011. In November 2010, it was officially announced by Lego that the video game Lego Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game was in production. It was released on May 10, 2011, in North America. The series acts as a thematic replacement for the popular Lego Pirates theme, featuring many of the same elements. Most of the sets are similar to the Lego Pirates theme. The theme was first introduced in 2011 and discontinued in 2017.

Lego Pharaoh's Quest was a Lego theme that was first introduced in 2011. It uses elements from the previous Lego Adventurers theme. The Lego Pharaoh's Quest theme was discontinued by the end of 2012.

Lego 4+ also known as Lego 4 Juniors was a Lego theme that was first introduced in 2003, designed for children aged 4+. It is the successor of the Lego Jack Stone theme released in 2001. The 4+ theme consisted of Pirates, City and Spider-Man sub-themes. It was eventually discontinued by the end of December 2005.

Lego Juniors was a product range of the construction toy Lego, designed for children aged 4 to 7 years old. It acted as a transition from the Duplo to the regular Lego System. Lego Juniors initial release was on February 14, 2014, with the tagline Easy to build. It was the successor to the Bricks & More line released in 2009. Unlike its predecessor, Lego Juniors offered specialized bricks to make builds look more realistic while using fewer pieces for an easier build. The product line was discontinued by the end of 2018 and rebranded as "4+".

The theme was introduced in June 2015, with the release of toy sets and the video game Lego Jurassic World, both to promote the film Jurassic World. Subsequent sets were released in 2018, alongside the next film, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Various animated projects have also been made, including the 2018 television special Lego Jurassic World: The Secret Exhibit, and the 2019 miniseries Lego Jurassic World: Legend of Isla Nublar.

The theme was first introduced in August 2015. The toy line was accompanied by several shorts, a television special and films based on Lego Scooby-Doo. The Lego Scooby-Doo theme was discontinued by the end of 2017.

Lego The Lord of the Rings is a Lego theme based on The Lord of the Rings film trilogy directed by Peter Jackson and the novel by the English author and scholar J. R. R. Tolkien. It is licensed from Warner Bros., New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The theme was first introduced in 2012. The first sets appeared in 2012, to coincide with a release of the video game Lego The Lord of the Rings. Subsequent sets based on The Hobbit film trilogy would also be released and the video game Lego The Hobbit was released in 2014. The product line was discontinued by the end of 2015. Later, the theme was relaunched in January 2023 with three new sets released as the part of the Lego BrickHeadz theme. In February 2023, The Lego Group unveiled a new Rivendell set that released on 8 March 2023 as the part of the Lego Icons theme.

Lego The Lone Ranger was a Lego theme based on the film of the same name. It is licensed from Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films. The theme was first introduced in April 2013 and was discontinued by the end of 2014 in conjunction with the theatrical release of the film.

Lego Monster Fighters was a Lego theme based on Universal Studios Monsters from the horror fiction genre. The Monster Fighters fight against the Lord Vampyre's monsters while collecting the moonstones. The story takes place in the Monster Realm and it's similar to The Monster Squad film. The theme was first introduced in May 2012. It was eventually discontinued by the end of December 2014. The theme also produced a range of associated media, including theme park attractions, several shorts, video game, app and publications.

Lego Avatar is a Lego theme based on the film series of the same name created by James Cameron. It is licensed from 20th Century Studios, The Walt Disney Company and Lightstorm Entertainment. The theme was first introduced on 1 October 2022. Subsequent sets were released in 2023, alongside the next film, Avatar: The Way of Water.
