Liberal is an unincorporated community in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States. It lies on Oregon Route 213 between Mulino and Molalla.
The community of Liberal grew up three miles south of Mulino on the south side of the Molalla River. The Liberal crossroads is located at the mutual corners of the donation land claims established in the 1840s by Harrison Wright, [1] William Russell, W. D. Woodcock, James Barnard and Francis Jackson. As the original land claims began to be parceled out, the area was settled in the mid-19th century, primarily by Swiss and German families.
According to local tradition, the community was named after the "liberal" credit practices of the founder of the Liberal Store. [2]
Liberal currently includes the historic Liberal Store, an active sawmill, a chicken feed mill, a multi-generational family farm, and the Evangelical Community Chapel, a church that has continuously held weekly meetings since its founding in 1900. [3]
The largest employer in Liberal is the RSG Sawmill, a division of the privately held Kalama, Washington-based, RSG Forest Products, Inc. [4] The community's second largest employer is the Victory Seed Company, which operates on the Dunton Family Farm. [5] Satrum-Dybvad Milling, a chicken feed mill, supplies Willamette Egg Farms. [6]

The valley is formed by the meandering Tualatin River, a tributary of the Willamette River at the northwest corner of the Willamette Valley, east of the Northern Oregon Coast Range. Yoder is an unincorporated community in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States. The name "Yoder" comes from the Mennonites who settled in the area. The community is best known as a filming location for Nowhere Man. Yoder is located on South Kropf Road, just north of South Schneider Road and about one mile south of Highway 211, where Kropf Road and 211 form Hamrick's Corner. Canby is to the north and Marquam is to the south. The Yoder Mill, a sawmill built in 1889, has been burned down and rebuilt a total of three times. The Yoder Store, an old-style general store, was built in 1914. In 1961 an airstrip was built in Yoder which is still in use today. The Yoder School was a small, wooden school that was built in 1923 and used until 1963. The building still stands. South Clackamas Community Church has met at the old Yoder School since the mid-1990s and even ran a private Christian School at the location for a few years. The former Willamette Valley Southern Railway ran through Yoder, linking Oregon City and Mt. Angel.

The Horace L Dibble House was built circa 1859 in Molalla, Oregon for Horace Lasalle Dibble and his family. The house is unusual as a western example of a saltbox, a dwelling type more commonly associated with Colonial-era New England. The timber-framed house has two stories on the eastern main facade, and one story in the rear. It is unusual for a Settlement Era house to have such large rooms, large windows, and two fireplaces.
