Lie to Me (Mikolas Josef song)

On 8 January 2018, Josef was announced as one of the six competitors in the Czech national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. [1] Following the close of the voting period, Josef was announced as the winner of the jury vote on 23 January. [2] On 29 January, it was announced that "Lie to Me" had won the national final, and would represent the Czech Republic at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. [3] [4]

The song competed in the first semi-final, held on 8 May 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal. [5] [6] Subsequently, it became only the second Czech entry to qualify for the grand final, with Josef performing in the second half.

MAD Video Music Awards 2018 Performance

Mikolas Josef performed the song 'Lie to Me' alongside Georgian-Greek Pop singer Tamta at the 2018 MAD Video Music Awards [7] in Athens, Greece at the Faliro Sports Pavilion Arena on 27 June 2018.

Czech Republic in the Eurovision Song Contest

The Czech Republic has participated at the Eurovision Song Contest 10 times since making its debut in 2007. Lake Malawi is a Czech indie pop band from Třinec formed in 2013. The band consists of lead vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist Albert Černý, bassist and keyboardist Jeroným Šubrt, and drummer Antonín Hrabal. The band was formed by Černý following the breakup of his former band Charlie Straight. Their debut extended play We Are Making Love Again was released in 2015, followed by their debut studio album Surrounded by Light in 2017. They represented the Czech Republic in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song, "Friend of a Friend", and came 11th out of a total of 41 with 157 points.

If I Were Sorry

"If I Were Sorry" is a song by Swedish singer Frans Jeppsson Wall. The song was released in Sweden as a digital download on 28 February 2016, and was written by Frans along with Fredrik Andersson, Michael Saxell and Oscar Fogelström. It took part in Melodifestivalen 2016, and qualified to the final from the fourth semi-final. It later won the finale with 156 points and represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 where it placed fifth. In the weeks after the semifinal appearance the song charted in the Spotify Viral charts in Switzerland, Taiwan, Iceland, Uruguay, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Spain, the United States, Norway, France, Denmark, Turkey and Germany.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2018 was the 63rd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Lisbon, Portugal, following the country's victory at the 2017 contest with the song "Amar pelos dois" by Salvador Sobral. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP), the contest was held at the Altice Arena, and consisted of two semi-finals on 8 and 10 May, and a final on 12 May 2018. The three live shows were presented by Portuguese television presenters Filomena Cautela, Sílvia Alberto and Catarina Furtado and Portuguese-American actress Daniela Ruah, marking the first time that the contest was presented by four hosts.
