This is a list of all roster changes that occurred prior to the 2015 Indian Super League season.
For the 2015 season, the controlling body for the Indian Super League, Football Sports Development, have decided to introduce a salary cap which shall be set at Rs. 20 crores after a meeting that took place on 9 March 2015. [1] Also at the meeting, the organization revealed other roster rules for the 2015 season which were:
It was also revealed during the meeting that each team may have a minimum of 22 players in their squad, with the addition of two developmental players. [1] This would mean that each team should have a minimum of one marquee player, eight international players, and thirteen domestic Indian players in which two must be developmental players. [1] Maximum, each team may contain 25 players, with two of the addition three players being allowed to be foreign. [1]
For the first time, the Indian Super League will host a player auction which will consist of 12-15 Indian players who have played for the national team but who did not play in the previous ISL season. [1] Each club will be allowed to add one player from the auction list onto their roster and the players not selected will be instated into the domestic player draft. [1]

On 10 July, the player auction took place. [16] Ten players who had featured for the India national team and who did not play in the ISL last season were available to be purchased by the eight teams. [16] Every player who went under the hammer during the auction were sold. The players were sold for a total of 7.22 crores. [17]

On 10 July 2015, after the auction, the 2015 ISL Domestic Draft was held, also in Mumbai. [16] 114 players were available for selection with only seven rounds taking place. Only 40 players were selected during the draft as the draft was just used to finalize the domestic quota for all eight teams. [18]

The 2014 season was the first ever season in Kerala Blasters Football Club's existence after its establishment in May 2014, as well as their first season in the inaugural season of Indian Super League. The club managed to secure qualification for the Indian Super League finals on 9 December 2014, after finishing the regular season in fourth position. They managed to make it to the final, but were defeated by Atlético de Kolkata through a stoppage time goal.

The regular season kicked off on 3 October and ended on 6 December, while the finals began on 11 December, which will conclude with the final match on 20 December. The defending champions Atlético de Kolkata were eliminated in the semi-finals by Chennaiyin FC. The final was played between Goa and Chennaiyin on 20 December 2015 at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa. Chennayin were crowned as champions defeating Goa 3–2 in the final.

The 2015 Season is Mumbai City's 2nd season in existence in the Indian Super League. Mumbai City began the season on 5 October 2015 against Pune City, with the opening game of their League campaign. For 2nd season, Nicolas Anelka was announced as the marquee player as well as the manager of the club, replacing Englishman Peter Reid. Mumbai City finished their season at 6th position in ISL 2015.

The finals began on 10 December and concluded with the final on 18 December. The defending champions coming into the season were Chennaiyin.
The 2016 Mumbai City FC season was the club's third season since its establishment in 2014 and their third season in the Indian Super League, their most successful till date. This season was also the first in which the club was coached by the Costarican Alexandre Guimarães, replacing Nicolas Anelka who served as player-coach the previous season. They finished first in the standings after the ending of the league season, qualifying for the semifinals for the very first time led by Diego Forlán who was their marquee player. However they lost in the semifinals to Atletico de Kolkata 1-5 on aggregate.

The 2016 season was the third season in Kerala Blasters FC's existence, as well as their third season in Indian Super League. After finishing second position in the league stage, the club managed to make it to the final. In the finals, they were again defeated by Atlético de Kolkata, this time through the penalty shoot-out.
