In cricket, a player is said to have scored a century when he scores 100 or more runs in a single innings. [1] The Asia Cup is a either One Day International format (50 overs) and Twenty20 International cricket format (20 overs) tournament organised by the Asian Cricket Council, [2] a subordinate of the International Cricket Council (ICC). [3] Originally started as a biennial tournament in 1984, it has since been organised 16 times as of the latest edition in 2023. [lower-alpha 1] [lower-alpha 2] Since its inception, a total of 60 centuries have been scored by 39 players from four different teams—Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka. The Asia Cup, officially known as the ACC Men’s Asia Cup or ACC Cup is a men's international cricket tournament contested between Asian countries in either One Day International format and Twenty20 International cricket format. It was established in 1983 when the Asian Cricket Council was founded as a measure to promote goodwill between Asian countries. It was originally scheduled to be held every two years. The 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup was the tenth Cricket World Cup. It was played in India, Sri Lanka, and for the first time in Bangladesh. India won the tournament, defeating Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the final at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, thus becoming the first country to win the Cricket World Cup final on home soil. India's Yuvraj Singh was declared the man of the tournament. This was the first time in World Cup history that two Asian teams had appeared in the final. It was also the first time since the 1992 World Cup that the final match did not feature Australia.

The 2016 Asia Cup was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that was held in Bangladesh from 24 February to 6 March 2016. It was the 13th edition of the Asia Cup, the fifth to be held in Bangladesh, and the first to be played using the T20I format. Bangladesh hosted the tournament for the third consecutive time after 2012 and 2014. Micromax was the main sponsor of the tournament after 2012.

Madagamagamage Dasun Shanaka is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer and current limited overs captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team. He generally plays as an all-rounder and is a right-handed batter and a right-arm medium fast bowler.
