The Buena Vista Beavers football team represents Buena Vista University in college football. The team competes at the NCAA Division III level as a member of the American Rivers Conference (ARC). The program has had 31 head coaches since it began to play during the 1893 college football season. Since the start of the 2023 season, Austin Dickinson has served as head coach of the Beavers.

Storm Lake is a city in and the county seat of Buena Vista County, Iowa, United States. The population was 11,269 in the 2020 census, an increase from 10,076 in the 2000 census. Located along the northern shore of the Storm Lake reservoir, the city is home to Buena Vista University, King's Pointe Waterpark Resort, the Living Heritage Tree Museum, and the Santa's Castle holiday attraction. It is the principal city of the Storm Lake micropolitan area.

Randy Michael Rahe is an American college basketball coach and the former head men's basketball coach at Weber State University. Randy Rahe was hired on March 23, 2006, as the 9th coach in Weber State's 47-year history. Rahe announced his retirement May 16, 2022 through the University, Rahe came to WSU from the University of Utah where he was an assistant under former coach Ray Giacoletti. Rahe was also an assistant under Stew Morrill for 13 seasons, first at Colorado State University and then at Utah State University. Rahe posted a record of 54–17 as a high school coach in Colorado from 1985 to 1988. He has also been an assistant coach at Colorado College, Colorado and Denver.
Stephen C. Miller is a former American football player, coach of football, basketball, and baseball, and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at Carroll College—now known as Carroll University—in Waukesha, Wisconsin from 1972 to 1976, Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa from 1977 to 1979, and Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa from 1987 to 2001, compiling a career college football record of 121–94–2. Miller was also the head basketball coach at Cornell during the 1982–83 season and again from 1984 to 1988, tallying a mark of 49–61. He was named NCAA Division III coach of the year while coaching football at Cornell.
Tom Rethman is an American college football coach. He is the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for Buena Vista University, a position he has held since 2023. He served as the head football coach at Briar Cliff University from 2008 to 2016, compiling a record of 21–78. He was the second head coach in the history of the Briar Cliff Chargers football program, succeeding Dick Strittmatter. A native of El Dorado, Kansas, Rethman graduated from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois in 1992.

The Beavers are members of the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C), fielding its team in the A-R-C since 1923 when the conference was branded as the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC). He was previously an assistant coach for the Phoenix Suns from 2015 to 2017 and the Toronto Raptors from 2018 to 2020. He was the head coach of the Indiana Pacers for the 2020-2021 season.

Chester Albert Anderson was an American football and wrestling coach. He served as the head football coach at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa from 1953 to 1954 and two stints as the head football coach Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota, from 1956 to 1960 and again in 1962 to 1965, compiling a career college football coaching record of 50–42–7. As football coach at Bemidji, Anderson had a record of 43–34–5 and won two conference titles. He was also the school's head wrestling coach from 1955 until his retirement in 1981.

The 2023 Wartburg Knights football team compiled a 13–1 record, won the ARC championship, and made it to the NCAA Division III semifinal where they lost to North Central (IL) 34–27.
