The Buena Vista Beavers football team represents Buena Vista University in college football. The team competes at the NCAA Division III level as a member of the American Rivers Conference (ARC). The program has had 33 head coaches since it began to play during the 1898 college football season. Since the start of the 2023 season, Austin Dickinson has served as head coach of the Beavers.

Rahe announced his retirement May 16, 2022 through the University, Rahe came to WSU from the University of Utah where he was an assistant under former coach Ray Giacoletti. Rahe was also an assistant under Stew Morrill for 13 seasons, first at Colorado State University and then at Utah State University. Ross Merle Masonholder was an American football and wrestling coach. The 1973 Buena Vista Beavers football team was an American football team that represented Buena Vista College as a member of the Iowa Conference during the 1973 NAIA Division II football season. In their fourth year under head coach Jim Hershberger, the Beavers compiled an 8–1 record, won the Iowa Conference championship, and outscored opponents by a total of 208 to 106. The team's only loss was to the eventual NAIA Division II national champion Northwestern Red Raiders. It was Buena Vista's first outright conference championship since 1952.
