Grand Valley State University is a public university in Allendale, Michigan, United States. It was established in 1960 as Grand Valley State College. Its main campus is situated on 1,322 acres (5.35 km2) approximately 12 miles (19 km) west of Grand Rapids. The university also features campuses in Grand Rapids and Holland and regional centers in Battle Creek, Detroit, Muskegon, and Traverse City.

Mark Andrew Murray is president of the Meijer chain of stores, based in Michigan. He was the third president of Michigan's Grand Valley State University, serving from 2001 to 2006.

Allen Jay Riemersma is an American former professional football tight end. He played for the University of Michigan from 1994 to 1995. He played nine seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the Buffalo Bills from 1996 to 2002 and Pittsburgh Steelers from 2003 to 2004. In 2007, he accepted a position as the regional director of the Family Research Council. He announced his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in September 2009.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Duffy Daugherty</span> American football player and coach (1915–1987)

Hugh Duffy Daugherty was an American football player and coach. He served as the head coach at Michigan State University from 1954 to 1972, compiling a record of 109–69–5. His 1965 and 1966 teams won national championships. Daugherty's tenure of 19 seasons at the helm of the Michigan State Spartans football team is the longest of any head coach in the program's history. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 1984.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Grand Valley State Lakers football</span> Football team of Grand Valley State University

The Grand Valley State Lakers football team represents Grand Valley State University (GVSU) in NCAA Division II football. The team currently competes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and was once affiliated with the now defunct Midwest Intercollegiate Football Conference. The Lakers football team has appeared in six NCAA Division II national title games, winning four championships, since 2001. The team has made the playoffs in 20 seasons. They have also won or shared 17 conference titles.

The Michigan Wolverines football team represents the University of Michigan in college football at the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision level. Michigan has the most all-time wins in college football history. The team is known for its distinctive winged helmet, its fight song, its record-breaking attendance figures at Michigan Stadium, and its many rivalries, particularly its annual, regular season-ending game against Ohio State, known simply as "The Game," once voted as ESPN's best sports rivalry.

The Michigan State Spartans football program represents Michigan State University (MSU) in college football at the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level. The Spartans are members of the Big Ten Conference. Michigan State claims a total of six national championships, including two from the major wire-service: AP Poll and/or Coaches' Poll. The Spartans have also won eleven conference championships, with two in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and nine in the Big Ten.

Brian Keith Kelly is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach at Louisiana State University (LSU), a position he has held since the 2022 season. Kelly served as the head football coach at Grand Valley State University from 1991 to 2003, Central Michigan University from 2004 to 2006, the University of Cincinnati from 2006 to 2009, and the University of Notre Dame from 2010 to 2021. He led the Grand Valley State Lakers to consecutive NCAA Division II Football Championships in 2002 and 2003. Kelly's 2012 Notre Dame team reached the 2013 BCS National Championship Game, while his 2018 and 2020 teams made appearances in the College Football Playoff.

Jeffrey Allan Chadwick, is an American former professional football player in the National Football League (NFL). A 6'3", 185-lb. wide receiver from Grand Valley State University, Chadwick was never drafted by an NFL team, but did play in 126 games over 10 NFL seasons from 1983 to 1992 for the Detroit Lions, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Los Angeles Rams, catching a career total of 4549 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Corwin Brown is an American football coach who was most recently the defensive backs coach for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). Following an eight-year career in the NFL as a safety from 1993–2000, Brown worked as an assistant coach for Virginia, the New York Jets, and Notre Dame before joining the Patriots.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Houseman Field</span> Stadium in Grand Rapids, Michigan, U.S.

Houseman Field is an 8,000-seat multipurpose stadium located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It is named for former mayor and Congressman Julius Houseman and is the home of the Aquinas College Saints track teams. It is also used for high school football and was the home to Grand Rapids FC of USL League Two. Grand Rapids Public Schools owns this stadium.

Donald Patrick Dufek Jr. is an American former professional football player who was a safety and special teamer for eight seasons with the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Michigan Wolverines from 1973 to 1975. He was chosen to serve as team captain for both the Seahawks and Wolverines.

Charles Thomas Martin is an American college football coach and former player. He is the head football coach at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, a position he has held since the 2014 season. Martin was the head football coach at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan from 2004 to 2009, compiling a record of 74–7. His Grand Valley State Lakers won consecutive NCAA Division II Football Championships in 2005 and 2006 and were runners-up in 2009. Martin was the offensive coordinator at the University of Notre Dame from 2012 to 2013.

The Seidman College of Business is an American business school operated by Grand Valley State University. The college is named after Francis E. Seidman, one of the principal founders of the BDO Seidman accounting firm and the father of businessman L. William Seidman, who helped found GVSU. The college is located at GVSU's Pew Grand Rapids campus in downtown Grand Rapids.

Michael Fredrick Denbrock is an American football coach who is the offensive coordinator and tight ends coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He has previously coached for the Illinois State Redbirds, Grand Valley State Lakers, Stanford Cardinal, Washington Huskies, Indiana State Sycamores, Cincinnati Bearcats, and LSU Tigers. He also coached in the Arena Football League (AFL) with the Buffalo Destroyers.
