South Korean animation, or aeni is hand-drawn and computer-generated animation originating from South Korea.

Sunwoo & Company, Co., Ltd. (Korean: ㈜선우앤컴퍼니) is a South Korean animation studio located in Seoul, South Korea. It was established as Sunwoo Production Inc. in 1974. It began by producing animation mainly for Disney Afternoon TV series, such as Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, Bonkers and Darkwing Duck, and soon expanded by providing animation services for Nickelodeon shows like Rocko's Modern Life and Invader Zim, and other series like Duckman on USA Network and Fatherhood on Nick at Nite.

<i>Pororo the Little Penguin</i> Korean computer-animated television series

Pororo the Little Penguin is a South Korean 3D computer animated television series. The series premiered on EBS 1 in South Korea in 2003. The series has 8 seasons.

Nam Gi-Nam was a prolific South Korean director of movies, cartoons and TV series. Born in Gwangju, South Korea, he graduated from Sorabol Art College. He made his debut in 1972 with Don't Cry My Daughter. The main genres in which he worked were animation, comedies, and science fiction. He was often associated with actor/director Shim Hyung-rae.

<i>Robot Taekwon V</i> 1976 South Korean film

Robot Taekwon V is a South Korean animated film directed by Kim Cheong-gi and produced by Yu Hyun-mok, the prominent director of such films as Obaltan (1960). It was released on July 24, 1976, immediately becoming a hit in the late 1970s, and consequently inspired a string of sequels in following years. Robot Taekwon V was not only a successful science-fiction animation for children but also served as powerful political propaganda for ideologies such as nationalism and anti-communism in the 1970s under the military regime of President Park Chung-hee. Decades after the film was initially released, the digital restoration of the film was completed in 2005, and since then the Robot Taekwon V character has built its own branding as the Korean science fiction hero as well as the symbol of nostalgia for Korean people who grew up with the film series. Robot Taekwon V was released in the United States in a dubbed format under the name Voltar the Invincible.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Yu Hyun-mok</span> South Korean film director (1925–2009)

Yu Hyun-mok was a South Korean film director. Born in Sariwon, Korea, Empire of Japan, he made his film debut in 1956 with Gyocharo (Crossroads). According to the website koreanfilm.org, his 1961 film Obaltan "has repeatedly been voted the best Korean film of all time in local critics' polls." Yu attended the San Francisco International Film Festival in 1963, where Variety called Obaltan a "remarkable film", and praised Yu's "[b]rilliantly detailed camera" and the film's "probing sympathy and rich characterizations."

Tooniverse is a South Korean cartoon and anime channel owned by CJ ENM Entertainment Division.

<i>Pororo, The Racing Adventure</i> 2013 South Korean film

Pororo, The Racing Adventure is a 2013 South Korean-Chinese animated film directed and edited by Young Kyun Park, with a screenplay by In-Kyun Lee and Eun Sook Kim. The film is based on the Korean computer-animated television series Pororo the Little Penguin. In 2014, an English dub of the film directed by Mychal Simka and written by Simka, Harry Glennon, and Ross Mihalko was released featuring the voices of Rob Schneider, Drake Bell, Anthony Anderson, Jon Heder, Jerry Trainor, Dallas Lovato, Jay Mohr, and Simka, as well as original songs by Bell and Smash Mouth.

<i>Timing</i> (manhwa) 2006 manhwa series by Kang Full

Timing is a South Korean manhwa series written and illustrated by Kang Full. Started in June 2005, this webtoon manhwa was released on Daum. The print publication of the first volume of Timing was released on August 5, 2006. The webtoon has been adapted into a film of the same name.

Pororo: Cyberspace Adventure is a 2015 South Korean animated film based on the animated series Pororo the Little Penguin.

The history of Korean animation, began with Japanese and American characters dominating the industry. The first sound animated character was created in 1936. The first Korean animation studio opened in Pyongyang in 1948. The first feature-length animated character appeared in 1967. Dooly the Little Dinosaur revolutionized the character market in 1987. As animation characters specific to Korea appeared, the Korean character market continued to grow. Since then, Korean character franchises have even exported their characters to other countries.

Kazuhide Tomonaga is a Japanese director, animator, storyboarder, and cartoonist. he has worked at Toei Animation, Group TAC, Oh! Production, and TMS Entertainment. He is currently a director at Telecom Animation Film Company. He is a member of the Japanese Animation Creators Association (JAniCA). His style inspired another famous animator, Naotoshi Shida.

The fifth season of The Haunted House animated television series, titled The Haunted House: Ghost Ball ZERO, was produced by Studio BAZOOKA and STUDIO EEK. The first part of the season aired on Tooniverse in South Korea from March 30 to June 15, 2023, at 8 p.m. KST. The second part aired from November 30, 2023 to March 14, 2024.
